Ridgeline RTL

My Ridgeline was parked in the garage when the horn started honking and all the lights were flashing off and on. The truck would not start and we couldn't get the lights off. All the lights were flashing on the dash. It sounded like it was shorting out. My husband unhooked the battery. We had it towed to the local dealer. That was 3 weeks ago. The controller is out and they ordered the chip. Nothing has been released by Honda to the dealer and there is not expected date for it to be released. I called American Honda this morning. They wanted the part number and reference number. I asked if they could get that from the dealership. She said they would attempt to but it would take time, so I called and got the numbers for them. This is totally unacceptable! I have been without my vehicle for 3 weeks with no end in sight! I'll never buy Honda again!

Update from Mar 18, 2023 Just an update, my truck has been at the dealer for a month now! The controller unit is still on back order. American Honda did call me and tell me they were sorry for the inconvenience . I think a month without my truck is more than inconvenient . I mentioned that I live on a farm and need my truck to pick up straw. Again, he said he was sorry for the inconvenience. Apparently if you buy a Honda, you are just screwed! They have no idea when they will get the part and I don't think they really care if they get it or not!

Update from Mar 27, 2023: I just spoke to American Honda regarding this issue. My truck has been sitting on the lot of the dealership for 5 weeks now. They do have a ETA of April 12th for the part. I think having to wait 8 weeks without my truck is unacceptable . I don't understand how they can do this. I live on a farm and that is why I bought a truck. I have no way to get supplies for my animals. I will never buy Honda again.

Update from Apr 4, 2023: I have been notified by American Honda that the control unit for my truck will be in April 12th. My truck has been sitting at the dealership for over 6 weeks now! Has anyone else had to wait this long for a part?

Update from Apr 13, 2023: My truck has been at the dealership for almost 8 weeks now. The part came in yesterday. I called and talked to the service advisor to see when it would be fixed. He said he would talk to the technician and call me back. He never called me back. This morning I called and he said we need your spare keys to reprogram them. I said my truck has been there almost 8 weeks and NOW you're telling me you need the keys! I said if I bring the keys in today will I get my truck back? He said well I don't know if it will be ready today or tomorrow! He said I'll call you, I said like you did yesterday he said I called and left a voice mail. No you did not call me. This is Honda of Salem in Salem, OR. I called American Honda again and their line is always the same. We're sorry for the inconvience! That doesn't cut it. there are 39 complaints for the same issues on the Ridglines. They should of fixed the problem years ago!

Update from Apr 13, 2023: I just talked to the dealership and they have the part for my truck. Except they disconnected the battery as it wouldn't turn off. They lost the bolt that goes on the battery cable and it's a special bolt. They ordered it and it will be here tomorrow. Honda really needs to look at their service centers! 8 weeks is too long to have a vehicle sit at the dealership! Who doesn't have parts around at a delarship? Never again will I buy Honda!
