About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
I had my driver and passenger side mirrors replaced because of the issued recall. However, the new driver's mirror is now very distorted and causes a fun-house effect. This is a safety issue and it impacts visibility and safe operation of the vehicle while in motion. A quick review of online owner forums reveals this to be a common issue after the original mirror recall was issued. Please get Honda to issue a new recall and replace with adequate, safe mirrors!

Honda Ridgeline model year 2020. Rear view camera intermittently not working. Issue can be temporally resolved by opening the tailgate in one of the two ways (flip down or swing out) Diagnosed by dealer as requiring a tailgate harness replacement. This appears to be same/similar to the 2017-2019 recall KCK 2017-19. (Honda service bulletin 22-049)

My Ridgeline was at the Honda dealer for a recall on both left and right exterior mirrors. (Glass only) Both were replaced. After leaving the dealer, the drivers side mirror image appeared wavy and distorted. It was difficult to focus on the image while driving rendering the mirror almost useless. The passenger side appears perfect. How can a replacement drivers side mirror installed due to a recall be worse than the recalled unit it replaced? Frustrating.

The rear camera on my 2020 Honda Ridgeline has failed. The dealership identifies the wiring harness "showing wires" and has ordered a replacement. Right now I'm unable to see anything behind the vehicle. Only a Honda dealer has confirmed the problem. For a few weeks the problem would come and go but now only an abbreviated "ladder" like diagram shows up when putting the vehicle in reverse. No live picture. The truck has less than 25000 miles and never used commercially.

I shifted the vehicle into reverse and the parking assist camera (backup camera) did not appear on the infotainment screen as it should. There is an active recall on the 2017 - 2019 models as Honda is aware of this problem with the tailgate wiring harness design. Backing up without the visual aid poses a serious safety threat to any pedestrians or vehicles that may not be seen due to the camera not working as it should. I have not yet scheduled a repair for this item but will update when the problem is remedied. There was no warning before this occured. It was sudden without any signs. It is my hope and the duty of the manufacturer that this issue is fixed within ALL model years that this problem is known to occur.

Rear backup camera display going black when backing up. There is a recall for the 2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline but there is not one for the 2020. The same issue is present where the dual action tailgate frays the wiring and eventually separates. The master technician at Honda stated that this fix is exactly the same as the previous years when that recall was performed on other vehicles. At first the back-up camera would work then it would go black until I opened and closed the tailgate. Then it got bad enough that it always went black. This is a design and safety issue. Honda remedied the issue by charging me for a new wiring harness, routing the wiring efficiently and the initial inspection.

Rear camera has stopped working. There was a recall for 2017 - 2019 Honda Ridgelines, currently does not include 2020. My mileage is 39600 and was told not covered. They apparently have not fixed the problem and it needs to include 2020-??s as well.
