The consumer owns a 2003 Hummer H2. The hood cable on the H2 was surrounded by a rubber sleeve for the hood release. Over a period of time the cable deteriorated and it caused the hood to fall, resulting in injury to the contact. When the hood was in the lock position the rubber hoses around the support cables held water in the process and caused the cable to rust. This occurred on both of the hood cables. The dealership replaced the cable, and they did not put the rubber hose on the cable. They replaced it with a different type of cable. The contact reported this to GM manufacturer. They offered him a $200 settlement for his injury. This occurred on September 13, 2004.
