H3 Alpha 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 119,000 miles

Radiator leaking around crimp at top. Damn cheap plastic radiator. Should be a recall.

Update from Apr 18, 2017: Dealership installed new radiator. Cost $800. For new upper and lower hose would have been another $300... now that's crazy.

H3 Luxury

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,000 miles

So only 3 months after this piece of crap car gave me issues regarding left axel seal and having to do a bolt extraction, as I was driving with my family visiting, the mother you know what, began smoking and "AC OFF" light came on. I had to pull off the freeway and call my insurance company to tow the vehicle to the mechanic....I should have listened to my hubby when he said get rid of it after the first repair - but I'm emotionally attached to this vehicle. (try not to ever get like that)

Anywho, vehicle was towed 19 miles to dealer, and radiator blew. Not sure of the cause but this was a $2300 issue. Thank GOD for the extended warranty which was only an additional $1700 to purchase, but has already paid for itself 4x over. Now, dealer tells me that radiator will need replaced.

Have owned 5 H3 Hummer models and still have three of them .Everyone of them the radiator cracks leaks .My 2008 H3 Alpha with 55,095 miles had the radiator crack and leak several days ago.Had read before H3 Alpha's had a better radiator than the 3.7 engines had .I now have doubts about any or these radiators GM put in these vehicles .None of my Hummers have been used for off roading purposes .

Everyone I know that has a H3 or Colorado with over 50K has had this problem. The dealership says it's a common problem. The radiator repair shop has the parts in stock . So why no recall ?

radiator cracked radiator cracked

This is a very common problem with the H3. Thousands of complaints from owners about their radiators having to be relaced, definitly a manufactured defect!!! there really needs to be a recall issued or a class action lawsuit filed.
