I bought this car in 2006 and it had 19,000 miles on it and I was told that it was a car that they let people just test drive, or a loaner car. Nice looking car and drove fine, or so I thought. It came with the 100,000 mile factory warranty and then I also bought the extended warranty, just in case. Well neither did me a dam bit of good, cause those scam artists knew the car was a POS from the get go, but found a sucker ! (insert my face)
Shortly after buying this car, I went up a hill and the car hesitated and then jerked real hard and started up the hill. Had my DH take it to the dealer and they "put it on the machine" and nothing. They drove it and nothing. Well duh ! They didn't drive it up any hills, nor out on the interstate for more than 30 mins to let the transmission warm up, or they'd feel it hesitating and kicking in and out while driving. We took it all over the state of NC and no one can find a dam thing wrong with it, but it sure keeps doing it. Now that there's 72,000 miles on it and I've had it for 2 yrs, I'm giving it back to them, because the warranty is about to expire and the extended says they won't touch something that was already there and the factory wouldn't fix it, since they've refused to touch it or do anything, until I pay them freaking around $700 for a transmission flush and maintenance fee that's due, they won't even consider looking into the transmission problems. I don't know about anyone else but I don't have money like that laying around .....S0B's !
I'm not the only one with this same kind of complaint.... stay very far away from Hyundai's. They are cheap made cars and come with a Lexus up keep price tag !

This is a throw away car never intended to last more then a couple years. These cars were not made to drive 80km or above for more then a few minutes.. why??.. the gearing is terrible and not suited for anything other then stop sign to stop sign driving and any hwy driving results in wicked fast gas consumption. example in My parents 2005 accent gs 1.6l automatic which I constantly work on.. yes I'm a lic. automotive mechanic in Ontario.. Their car traveling at 80 kph is running at just over 2000rpm which is nuts my Yukon at 80 kph is at 1000 rpm( as I said thought accent not a hwy car) this is still way to high. The car has only 220,000km on it and my parents always took it in for regular maint. at a Hyundai Dealer and did maint. that was ALWAYS suggested weather it needed it or not however it became a joke taking it there because they seemed to always try and pull one over on you and replace parts that were already done.. this past few months I have done brakes wires and plugs and just 3 weeks before the tranny issues I replaced the starter.
My father was driving home a couple weeks ago when it began to act funny. It started revving up to 4000rpm at 80kph, when he pulled past the driveway to back in he found out he also now has NO REVERSE and drove down the end of the road turning around and driving into the drive way. I tested the car with my obd2diagnostic reader and no codes present. I called a friend that works at a well known Transmission shop, and he said "Ah yea I've heard that before most likely the clutches have burnt out explaining the reverse problem too!"he said they have done a lot of rebuilds on them at a cost of $1500-$2000. (worth more then the car now). So I called every auto wrecker / recycler within 3 cities in every direction and they have such a problem they cant keep them in or they are totally garbage. Almost every place I called laughed and said best of luck.
So my search for a transmission or some poor soul looking for other parts car(minus tranny) continues.......
