About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
We purchased 2 Hyundai Elantras 2006 models in May 2006 as gifts for our daughters. Within 1 week or less, the phone charger in the car was not working on either car. They replaced the fuses in each vehicle and told us that when we charge the phones, they should be plugged in prior to starting the car in order to keep the fuses from "blowing". 13 Oct 2006 - 1 of my daughters blew a fuse and replaced it per their protocol. She plugged in her cell phone to charge and the cranked her car. The fuse blew again. This seems to be a problem when we have 2 brand new 2006 Elantras that are both blowing fuses. You should be able to plug in a simple cell phone charger without the fear of blowing the fuse every time.
