Started my 2006 Hyundai Elantra (52k mileage) totally DEAD, what!! called for jump. after I turned car off, brake lights stayed ON. switch was OFF. tried to press on brakes, turn light switch on&off, nothing. My car finally died again 14 hours later from the light draining the battery, but what could I do?

Went online to see if I could find out why this happened. Hyundai Elantra has defective brake light switches from 2007 - 2016. So where does that leave me? This is definitely a defect! I called number on this website, but prompt says my vin number is not included. Seems to me this defect most likely started in 2006 and escalated in 2007.

I'm jumping the battery again in the morning taking it to Tony Hyundai dealer to see if they will replace with no charge since it's obviously a manufacturing defect. They will most like renege on it. Last year I had to have the gas tank sensor leveler replaced as it suddenly clicked off repeatedly making it impossible to fill the tank.
