WHEN I TAKE THE VEHICLE FOR OTHER SERVICE, WILL HAVE THIS CHECKED. I USE A LOCAL INDEPENDENT MECHANIC {NOT THE HYUNDAI DEALER WHO QUOTED $89 TO USE HIS DEVICE WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. THE PROBLEM THAT TIME WAS THE GAS CAP, FIXED BY MY SON BY PUTTING A RUBBER GASKET UNDER THE GAS CAP.}

Passenger air bag light is on and car will not pass inspection without repair. The cost from dealer is $1400 - hardly worth it obviously. This sensor has been recalled by Hyundai for every year except 2006. I am really annoyed because now I have to spend money on a defective sensor if I want to keep my car.

passenger seat sensor nover goes off

I see many people have the same problem. It certainly is a life concern. Also, in Mass, a sticker reject item. How are others dealing with this problem? Is there an active recall from the Government? The seat sensor makes me worry about driving the car. Is there a recall? The 2006 Hyundai Elantra seems to have many issues. Are there any past recalls on this car?

I am the original owner of your automobile. I purchased an Elantra in 2006. Had I known what I now know I would have never had purchased the car. You have problems with your sensor systems that bring untold hardship on the consumer. On purchasing one should expect that all of your sensors should eventually prove to be defective. This anticipated cost should be reflected in the total cost of the car.

The first sensor (SOP Oxygen) malfunctioned at 37, 620. The sensor light came on in spite of the fact that there was mechanical problem! In this first case the warranty covered the cost of the repairs.

The second case occurred at 64,763 miles. This time the Front Sensor (upstream, bank 1 oxygen) malfunctioned. I was expected to absorb the cost replacing your second sensor at $292 dollars. In both instances the engine service light came on spite of the fact there was nothing mechanically wrong with the engine. So about eight months ago when my airbag light came on I continued driving my car. I recognized that there was no real need to have the car serviced.

Nothing was wrong until the time of inspection. At that time May 22, 2015 I was told that the light won’t go off because of your defective passenger seat sensor. I was told by the service manager at Priority Hyundai that I need to replace a perfectly good seat for the sake of installing a new senor. I was told the cost of repair would be $1520.27, almost more than what the car itself is worth. This expense to simply get the air bag light to go out! My car was basically totaled by the failure of the sensor light!

Priority Hyundai says it needs to replace my passenger seat, in order to fix your defective sensor, so that my car can pass inspection! Wow!

Hyundai offers no answer to it's defective sensor. What might I have done wrong? No suggestion or advice concerning as to preventive measures? The attitude is "things just happen." THREE TIMES! There is nothing they can or will do.

I was told by the dealer I got the car from before my warranty ran out that the airbag light being on constantly was fine. I am now quite past my warranty and have recently moved from Ocala, Florida where there are NO inspections and I bought the car to a state with very strict inspections. Today I found out that I was lied to and my air bags probably d not even work because of a sensor that costs over $1300. My car already has a dent on the drivers side and over 100k miles on it so now instead of getting my 4th Hyundai, I will never use them again. I was lied to and my life was put in jeopardy all because of the bottom dollar. I also had the extended warrantee which would have covered this issue. Looking at years before and after mine I see there are quite a few complaints about this same exact thing but my year has no recall. Strange enough the paperwork says my husband stated that the airbag light is on which he never did so because I was told in the past that it was fine.
