problem #1

Nov 202013

Elantra GL 1.8L

  • Manual transmission
  • 74,565 miles

In November 2013 I was driving down the HWY and the EPS light ON my car and immediately the direction stop stayed so I could not take control of my car and it was a moment of panic and terror because did not have any control over the direction and gradually was able to go directing with much effort because it was too hard. I could get to the driveway from the road and to stop my car at that time I had no control of the steering. Turn off my car and wait like 15-20 min and start it again and everything was fine and as if nothing had happened.

I went to the Hyundai and they told me the problem was the steering column, that if he turned on the light again and pass the same to return. The replacement of the steering column the price is $ 3000 and the Hyundai is not responsible for this arrangement.

Update from Oct 3, 2014: I have had the same problem of the steering in the direction of my work at home at HWY 401 again and the EPS light turned on and the HWY was very busy at this moment and I almost caused an several cars accident , I set hazard lights immediately and I could handle the cituacion , but I almos die and many people too , the steering was completely hard and I drive with great difficulty, with much effort drive on the right direction and I was able to park in the emergency area on the Hwy , I wait for around 20 min I start my car and everything was good .

I went to Hyundai and they told me that the cost is almost $ 3000 and that the company is not responsible for this problem . This is a factory problem .
