I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The problem that I am encountering is that when going slow the transmission acts as it were lugging. I have to manually drop transmission into a lower gear for it to stop. The dealership looked at it and they say that this is the manufacturers way of helping to increase fuel mileage and that at this time there are no fixes for the problem. they said that I was not the first person with this complaint and that they would forward this information to the manufacturer.

My 2010 Elantra automatic transmission has lugged since day one. The mechanic at the dealership drove it 15 miles and admitted it lugged before downshifting when decelerating and when going up hills before downshifting but said that was normal. I think all 2010 Elantras have this problem and they should all be recalled if it can be fixed. If it is unfixable I guess we will ALL have to live with it. I have heard that it was engineered that way so they would get better gas mileage. What a stupid way to get better mileage. I had a 2002 and 2003 Elantra and the automatic transmissions on both worked perfectly.
