problem #1

I had problems with the engine light coming on and going off for several months. Finally the engine light came on along with the seat belt light. I took it into the Ganley Hyundai Dealership in Parma Ohio and had them take a look at it. They fixed the seat belt light, but there were so many codes showing they told me to drive it around and come back immediately when the engine light came back on. When I returned the car, they called me to say the engine had a piston bearing failure. They found metal shavings in the oil pan and only would be a matter of time when the engine completely failed. The customer service agent told me a new engine would cost around $10,000.

Since the car was worth about $6000 and I was still making payments, I was devastated. He said he would call Hyundai and send them pictures and see what they would say. I am not the original owner, but bought the car from the Ganley dealership with 27,004 miles on it. The engine problem happened with 74,214 miles on it. The customer service agent said he would do everything he could do to help. He called back the next day and said Hyundai would pay for 90% of the cost of replacement. They took about a week to finish the job and gave me one of their vehicles to use during that time. Besides the engine replacement they included an oil change and coolant system flush. The total cost was $1472.02. I was expecting to pay between $2000 to $3000. Needless to say, I was satisfied.
