This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Hyundai dealer.
I'm fearful of my life. Not sure when my car may take control.

Car suddenly accelerates even when foot is off the gas pedal. My foot was on the brake and sometimes it didn't stop the car. This was very scary and happened multiple times on my way to work. The car had to be towed to the dealer as it wasn't safe to drive. I called the dealer to alert them to this problem.

There is an acceleration problem. The car RPM gauge goes sky high but the car does not accelerate. Once in a while the car jumps forward and definitely there is a problem. I have an appointment but they have never heard of such a problem at this particular dealership,. They must not go on line! The car is noisy and bumpy and has tires that do not move in snow. Most disappointing thing I have ever done is to lease this car. Mileage is not as great as advertised either. No one seems to be doing anything but I have gathered several people who hate their new elantra as much as I do !!!!!!

When the RPMs accelerated as I was hitting the brake it scared the crap out of me so I instantly let off the brake and crashed the car! This just happened this am. I'm very upset about this. I just made my first car payment last week!
Update from Oct 10, 2013: My car accelerated on it's own when I was trying to park the car in a parking garage. I hit a cement pillar and did quite a bit of damage to my front end. Was curious why the air bags didn't go off...hmm??

My daughter's 2013 Elantra accelerated unexpectedly 2 times and the second time she crashed into a concrete wall in a parking garage. Hyundai had the car for 6 weeks to do testing on it and finally sent a letter in the mail saying nothing was wrong with the car.
I have contacted Hyundai customer at least 10 times during this process and I never received 1 call back from them until my daughter started sending emails stated the poor customer contact. To date I have had the body damage repaired and the car is now sitting at the dealership.
I have asked Hyundai for the results of the tests and they said they are confidential, so I asked them for a list of test performed and they said they could not give me a list of any procedures performed. How can I as a Father put my daughter back behind the wheel of an unsafe car?
The dealership will buy the car lease out and put her in a new Elantra, but she will need to give them an additional $2500.00 down payment and have the lease on the new car extended an additional 12 months longer than the original lease.
This is unacceptable Hyundai should be ashamed as a dealership and should step up and assume responsibility for there faulty product.

Love the car just wish the suspension was a little better.. But have noticed that there are times when I have the air, heat or sometimes nothing on and it wants to stall when it sits idling.. Have had it do so a couple of times.. Had it checked out but they could not find anything... But the thing that is starting to concern me is about a week ago I noticed when I come to a stop have to make sure my foot is fully on the brake because it jumps forward for a second. It's almost as if there is something wrong with the timing or the idle is off or the gas, not sure..
