This is a huge safety concern. The failure of the column and shaft assembly happened while making a turn onto a busy four lane highway. We could not complete the turn. The steering wheel felt "locked". The car had to be towed to the dealership. My teenage daughter mostly drives this car. Just so happen on this day, my husband was driving. I feel if any teenager or inexperienced driver would have been driving the car during the failure, the result could have been tragic.
