Purchased a used 2013 Hyundai Elantra w/12,000 miles +/- for my wife. With in three days the tire air pressure warning light came on. Added air and every two or three days light came on again. Took car to service center and found rim was bent. Returned to the Hyundai dealer where i purchased it and they said it was my (wife's) fault. We had damaged the wheel. After talking to my wife and sister-in-law, who were the only drivers since purchase, neither of them had hit anything noticeable. Cost me $150.00 to have wheel straightened. Now only add air every month or two. The Wife previously owned a 2008 Elantra and loved it. Always thought it was quiet and road well. The 2013 has always seamed noisy and rides a lot rougher. I was driving the car on a trip in December through Michigan, and did hit two minor pot holes. Only noticed them because of the rough ride of this vehicle. Hit one on right side and one on left side. Upon returning home to Ohio noticed a golf size bubble in the outside sidewall of both the right and left front tires. Since i was afraid that the integrity of the sidewalls had been compromised I replaced all four tires even though the tread was still in the 50% range. New Michelin tires came to $618.76. As other complaints have mentioned I believe that this tire and possible wheel damage along with the rough ride is caused by improper engineering. The tire side wall is not properly matched with the rest of the car, particularly the suspension. The car has the 215/45R17 tires which leaves not much sidewall on the 17" rims. Of course since I just put new tires on the car I don't want to change wheels and buy another set of tires. It seems to me that this issue is something that Hyundai should have some responsibility for. Has anyone checked into a class action suit? Is any one interested in participating in a class action against Hyundai? My guess is, with the number of complaints just on this sight, there must be thousands of other owners out there with the same issues, just not reported.

I recently had to replace an original equipment tire because of a bulge in the sidewall. I had the service done at my dealers, from whom I bought the car new in November 2012. It is a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT with less than 15,000 miles.

The dealer kindly checked with you and was told that it did not qualify for any replacement credit. They showed me the current warranty information which specifically lists “bulge” as a road hazard not covered.

However, I am attaching a copy of the warranty received with the car and you will note that “bulge” is not included in the exclusions. It appears that the frequency of “bulges” became so great that you found it necessary to include them in your exclusion list.

I respectfully request a payment of $65.62 which represents one-half my cost of replacing the tire. While one would expect that more than half the original tread was still present on the defective tire, based on the statements of other owners, 30,000 miles seems to be the best they can do with the questionable quality of your original equipment tires.

I might note that two years ago I had to replace another of the original tires when it blew-out on the highway. The condition after the blow-out was such that it would have been impossible to tell the cause. However, I must suspect that a similar “bulge” condition existed in that tire. Fortunately for you, there were no injuries as a result of the mishap.

2013 Hyundai Elantra GT 24,000 I had to replace front driver tire due to bubble. Dealer said it's my fault, must have hit a pothole.

Was anyone able to get Manufacture Warranty to cover their tire replacement?

Additional my car has had a mildew smell since day one - I bought it brand new. I keep it in garage, no pets, no little kids and immaculate

It's been detailed + Air filter changed but smell comes back. (and no its not me) A worker at dealer said he has heard this before with this particular make/model.

I bought this 2013 Hyundai Elantra with original tires (Hankook Optimo 215 45 17) a year ago. Three of my tires have air bubbles on the sidewall which is unacceptable. My brother in law bought the same car brand new and has low miles and got an air bubble as well. The quality of these tires is very poor. Hyundai better use another tire manufacturer for their cars because this is a dangerous issue and someone is going to get into a bad accident one day. There are just too many complaints regarding these tires. I have to go to a tire dealer now and purchase new tires which is going to cost me over 500 dollars. I am fighting to get reimbursed!!

I developed a bubble in the sidewall of my stock Hankook 215/45/r17 Optimo - Front Driver. The dealer and the tire center said I hit something. Bull crap! I baby my car! That was March 2015. Here we are in October 2015 @ 22230 miles and I have not only ANOTHER sidewall bubble in one of the remaining 2 stock Optimos, but I also have another bubble in the Hankook Ventus S1. Also on the driver side. I have hit NOTHING my alignment overall is good. intermittently it will pull right but not consistent.I have been blown off when calling into the dealer about it. Hyundai needs to look into this or at least assist with replacement cost. If it is the product, then Hankook needs to step up.

2013 Elantra. 215/45/17 Continental tires. A minor, and I mean a minor flaw in the road caused my right front tire to blow about 13 months in. Replaced it. $168. The dealer replaced it with a Hankook tire. I never noticed that until I got a bubble in the Hankook tire and went back to the dealership to replace that tire. I wanted to have four of the same tires. The replacement Continental tire cost $186. Since then I've developed sidewall bubbles in the new Continental tire (right front) and the driver's side front tire. Now I'm looking at two more replacements. Another $372.

Time to dish out for 16" rims and tires with enough sidewall to withstand the less than perfectly flat roads I guess.
