rim failure rim failure

Driving on a residential street under 30 mph no prior warning, sudden loud bang and lost control of steering, saw wheel rolling along side the car. Once I was able to maneuver the vehicle to stop safely and inspect the vehicle, it was noted that the wheel itself snapped in half leaving center portion with lug nuts attached to vehicle and the other half attached to tire which was no longer on the vehicle.

Hyundai took a complaint and told me someone would contact me in 48 hours to inspect and vehicle cannot be repaired until inspection is complete. The refused to provide a rental or any other alternate form of transportation during the delay in their ability to inspect what is clearly a defective wheel that put the lives of many in danger.

rim failure

Catastrophic rim failure which resulted in the loss of control of the vehicle. Thank God my daughter was not injured when this happen. To add insult to injury the dealer first words were “what did she hit”. This was the third occurrence with the wheels on this vehicle. I instructed the dealer that I am filing a formal complaint with Hyundai Corporate offices. More to follow.
