Ok we just bought this car and with no warning we get out of car and when we get back in it will not start, we took to repair and they couldn't get it to replicate so decided to change out fuel pump, picked up yesterday headed home stopped to get fuel... for 3 rd time in 2 weeks again it will not start, pushed it out of gas lane, went to get something to eat while deciding what to do, get back in crank and no start, get out shut door, decide to try one more time and it starts, took straight to Hyundai dealer and he can't get it to replicate .... no error code nothing, what the hell just had this car for a month.... I've been on forums last night and see this issue over and over but see no recall about it ... this is bullshit ....Hyundai I'm all ready thinking this is a serious issue you guys refuse to recall ....everyone is saying it's either a shifter cable issue or the transmission range switch... what happens when my wife is stranded and this piece of crap won't start..... I promise I will bad mouth your product till the end of time!! Practically new car and only own one month ... not good!!!

My car wouldn't start without warning. We had just taken it in for maintenance and they didn't catch anything.

Have been told this is dangerous because this can result in an accident.I suggest that problem is the arrangement and positioning of computer sensors. As a computer programmer and Systems analyst, the problem is computer related, where, I do not have the knowledge to diagnose the problem other than to say it is computer sensor related. One more part of this failure, the engine/starter connection is being made (clicks) but will not continue the startup cycle. For this to happen the park lever has be slightly moved.

I purchased my Hyundai Elantra brand new in August of 2014. I have maintained regular maintenance and oil changes accordingly. I didn't start having issues until June of 2017. I went out to my car to get ready to go to work when it did not start. I have a push button so I engaged the brake and pushed the button to start the car like normal. I noticed that the brake was a little stiff and was difficult to push down. I had the key fob in the car with me. After several attempts of trying to start the car, I decided to give a few minutes and then try again. During this time, I called Hyundai Roadside Assistance to have my car towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. Typically, tow services take about 2 hours in my area. I live in New Hampshire. Once the tow truck arrived, two hours later, he jumped started my car and it came right on. I immediately drove it to the dealership and they performed diagnostics on the battery and found that the battery was in good condition and they said since they could not replicate the problem that there was nothing that could be done.
