I recently purchased an Elantra December 2014 and had no issues until the past three months when the car began to swing side to side at random. It would be for long periods up to 35 minutes to short amounts of 5 minutes. The behaviour is like you've hit extreme ice and are losing control of the vehicle, however it happens during all road conditions. It has been happening more frequently and becoming more difficult to control.
It is our first Hyundai and we're excited to have it until we nearly went off the road this evening. We tried different steering options, we noticed it happens worse at 80-90 kph. Not sure but we have had it in the shop every 5,000 kilometres for the warranty and take care of our investment. Fearful our investment was for nothing since it is so dangerous to drive. Seems to primarily happen on the highway. Tires have just been balanced, air pressure normal, tire tightness was appropriate. There is a jerking motion not a pull to one side almost like fish tailing. My father is a mechanic as well, my husband a millwright so we're aware of our possibilities but certainly not an aligment issue.

On 7/25/2015, my boyfriend and I were headed to Chicago Airport. I was the passenger and was severely hurt, intubated by the side of the road and flown by Helicopter to South Bend Memorial Trauma Center, unconscious and there until 8/15/2015. I have no memory of the crash or the numerous surgeries that were on my right leg, hip, left wrist and an TBI. My sons rented a motor home to bring me back to Colorado and the to North Shore Care Center in Loveland. As I am able to function now, I would like to know if there are any other complaints on the 2015 or perhaps the steering problems with the 2013 Elantra were not corrected in 2015. Mike Murphy was the driver and he drove right into a Toyota Tundra at 4:10 that afternoon. There was a "Y" in the road at Range Road, Kingsford Heights and Mr. Murphy says that the car just turned at the "Y Intersection" and this produced the head on collision. The car went "left of center." The airbags deployed but I was hurt to the extent that I cannot go back to work and am not walking or seeing. The TBI created double vision and my eyes are crossed. Thousands of dollars have been spent to get well and I've been doing therapy for months.
Please let me know if there have been similar reports of steering problems or you have suggestions how to go about this search. The car was taken to John's Garage. We were told that the car has a black box that would give me some information. It will be saved a few more weeks and we've been told we have to pay for an engineer or mechanic to download the information from the black box.
Thank you so much for your consideration,
CClaudell

My 2015 Elantra veers almost out of control at times, just like driving on ice. It happens usually about once a week. I had it at my local dealership for almost a week and they cannot find the problem.
