Elantra SE 1.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

When driving straight when you try to adjust to stay in you lane the steering sticks. Kinda like a magnet is holding it, and then it lets go sometimes casing me to me to over correct and almost wreck. Driving this car on the highway is very stressful. I haven't wrecked yet, but I can see it coming if its not fixed. I'm not the only one. It needs a recall before someone gets hurt. Its very dangerous.

I never thought it would be so difficult to have a new car serviced. I'm beginning to think that all of the warranties and insurance is to make you feel safe in making the purchase but afterwards its whatever. My car has not been fixed yet. When I did take it to the dealership they changed the battery and the control to the sunroof. As for the control I wasn't aware they had a recall. I'm at 38000 miles now .and the problem continues to get worse. The dealership keep telling me I have to make an appointment and pay for diagnostics which starts at $120 an hour. I don't think so. when do the warranty kick in. I will never buy a Hyundai again !

Elantra SE

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,500 miles

Driving on road with a 4 month old vehicle, I came to a slight bend in the road and when attempting to round this slight bend. The steering wheel locked up and was unable to avoid colliding with front of roadside safety railing on left side of road causing very serious front end vehicle damage, and ripping off the rear passengers door and body back to the tail lights. Luckily no one was sitting in the front of the back seat of the car when this happened or serious injury or possible deaths could have resulted. Not very impressed anymore with the Hyundai Elantra automobiles.

steering locked in turn position and could not get it back

This happened to my daughter who is 17 and has her license for 3 months. I am very lucky she was not hurt. This is a major problem.
