On July 22, 2022 I purchased a 2017 Hyundai ELANTRA. The car seem to be doing really well without issues. On October 31 at around 5 PM I experienced brake failure and ended up in a collision. The brake light came on earlier that morning and I did not think much of it. However I was going to make an appointment to get it looked at. Right before my collision my brakes failed the brake light came on, the brakes were stiff and I could not stop my vehicle.
Hyundai has denied there ever being an issue with the brakes on these cars. I know because they cannot get me in until December 13 to find out what’s going on with my car. Now this morning around 4:48 AM the brake light is back on and has come on three different times and I was able to snap a photo of it. What makes the situation difficult is a Hyundai is not acknowledging brake failure in these cars. Hyundai a swore up and down there has never been a recall on the braking system on these cars. I’ll ask them to check the Vin and see if this car had ever been brought in to the dealership to have these recalls fixed. However I was told point-blank that I would have to contact the two previous owners. I should’ve known something was wrong when the car only had two owners very low miles on it when I purchased it. The car I work so hard for to purchase has now turned into a living hell. People are still having accidents in these cars and Hyundai is not acknowledging it nor are they working on a solution.
