This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Hyundai dealer.
The engine seized 12 days after we bought the car used from Carmax. They said it wouldn't be worth replacing the engine and that we should get a different car.
My teenage son was at risk because his 2017 Hyundai Elantra just stopped working while driving, and he had to pull over to the side of the road to wait to be towed.

I bought my 2017 Hyundai Elantra so I can use it. but it didn't last me more then 7 years!!! The engine died on it.
For the last two years it has been giving me problems and the dealer has been saying that their computer won't show what the problem it is so there for they don't know what's wrong!!! Every time I took it there to have it looked and explained what its doing, the service manager has been looking at me like I have no idea what I'm taking about ( since I am a woman I'm sure I don't !!!) so when the engine finally died. I took it there his answer was "I don't think it would be covered under warranty since you have too many Klm but I will try"!! I took him more then a month to tell me that it will not be covered under warranty as expected!!!!
I bought my car so I can use it not to sit in the garage. I would expect to at least have it for 10 years without major problems.
Hyundai Canada has let me down big time.
I will inform anyone of my bad experience with the company. and for sure NOT perches any Hyundai Vehicle...

2017 Elantra started making clicking noises then completely stalled and would not move forward or in reverse. Turned it off and started it again and was able to drive it home, Battery Warning Discharge error was displayed. Tried to drive it to mechanic, it completely died and had to have it towed. Per the mechanic the motor seized up. Will cost $5294.02 for a used engine that may have the same thing happen once it hits over 100k miles.

THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN BACK HOME FROM WORK AND JUST DIED WITH NO NOISE. I took it to the import dealer and he hooked up to a machine and found 2 codes and replaced items the codes listed and started the car and the car sounded horrible, so the car mechanic said the car need a motor. I said, well, we can't take a lost so go ahead and order a motor. The motor cost 4,838.71 and 1,648.50 dollars for labor to fix. The car has a lien on it also.

I feel that because I'm a woman that I've been taken advantage of by the credit company, Hyundai, Paul Blanco and by the warranty company. I'm being forced to pay for a car that has a blown engine that I've only owned for 1yr and 5 months. I feel that Hyundai should be held responsible for the damage to the car because there was no indication that there was a problem.

While driving 70mph on the highway, it started to run very rough out of nowhere and although my foot was on the gas, it started to gradually slow down. The check engine warning light came on, so I exited. At the first stop light, it felt like it was going to die out completely. I was able to pull into a parking lot and turn off the car. This happened twice within two days. I took it to the dealer where I bought it 3 years ago (It's a 2017, but I purchased it in 2016) They said they did a diagnostic but couldn't find the code for what was wrong. I left it with them for two days and the mechanic drove it around, but it didn't do anything for him, so they sent me on my way and said unless the warning light comes on and stays on when I bring it into the shop, they have no way of knowing how to fix it! Now as I drive on the highway, it starts to run a little bit rough at 65mph. but the warning light hasn't come on. I have been staying in the right lane and not driving over 65. but this shouldn't be happening. I am frustrated because I can't believe it's having such issues and is not that old. Anyone else having this?

Engine failure and eventual replacement on a new car with less than 2k miles is unacceptable. I gave Hyundai a chance and they failed.

Great so around August of this year, my engine completely started to rattle and shake. There's really no other word for it. The check engine light was turning on intermittently, and I was afraid that me and my daughter were going to be left in the middle of the road. So I took precautionary steps to go get it fixed thinking that they were going to fix it for me without me having to pay. When I took it there, they informed me that it was the catalytic converter or something or maybe it was the caliper. I don't know. It's something with a C and he said that it was Broken and it was gonna cost 1200 to fix it when I left the place I noticed that it was still shaking and I called and everybody ignored me. I didn't call I sent text messages to the guy that handled my case and I just told him hey it's still shaking and he completely ignored me. I left it at that because I don't spend my life complaining and I thought well maybe if I just think positive things will get better.
The other day it actually stopped shaking when I dropped my daughter off at school and literally when she got off the car and I started driving on the highway. The check engine light turned on and it has not turned off since every once in a while it will feel like if the engine is about to stop and then it just keeps going it shakes really crazy and then it stops. Now looking online I see a bazillion people have had problems with the engine, so I am wondering, why aren't these people saying something because we must all be having the same problem I don't even have 40,000 miles on my car yet because of the pandemic I hardly ever even drove.
