The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT. The contact stated that after turning off the vehicle, she had to disconnect the battery cable to prevent the battery from being drained. The contact also stated that the brake lights were inoperable and she was concerned that other drivers might crash into her vehicle due to the brake lights not functioning as designed. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V769000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
