So having complained directly to Hyundai Canada about the horrible suspension in this car , my findings have come to fruition and the car has destroyed its suspension as I predicted it would do after owning the car for the first month and finding that it was acting up on the smallest of road bumps such as manhole covers or a divot in the roads... Within a year the rear struts had to be replaced because of this damn dance it does on a minor bump like the back swinging to the left or the right with no predictable direction.
Now I am having to replace the entire front strut suspension and rear shocks on this vehicle which will be in the thousands of dollars. The car has barely 78,000 kms on the odometer (the issues started at 60,000 kms) yet this car needs an entire suspension upgrade. My 1999 Honda civic had 190,000 kms on it and I never had suspension issues.
Also if this suspension is so great as the engineers from Hyundai have told me, then why has Hyundai returned to a full 4 wheel independent suspension on the latest iteration of the Elantra and Elantra GT.
I believe I know the fix for this car, other than putting it in a car crusher. Hyundai has to supply a modded rear suspension axle for the rear of the car at a discount for a car past its warranty. The one installed on the car in its current state is not strong enough or has been under engineered for either weight or cost, but does not function as it should and was probably never long term tested for flaws, of which it has many. It is twisting under load. Also the shocks and struts need to be modded. Don't bother spending money on a KYB shock or strut as the car will eat those for breakfast within a year.
Also this car has been lady driven 90% of the time as I hate the cars handling so much, I rarely if ever drive it.
