Driving home from lunch, I was just getting up to speed from a red light. I heard a big bang and the engine stopped.
I had this happen long time ago with another small car. Turned out the crankshaft broke. I will know hopefully by Friday.

I bought it new in 2017 and paid it off a year early in May 2021. I have about 90,000 miles on it. When I was driving to a client's house on Friday, 16 July 2021, I was on the highway. It was making a lot of noise and would not accelerate. Eventually, the car completely died, would not start, did not have any dash lights, nothing. Totally dead. There was no prior warning. There were no check engine lights. I was stranded on the side of the road for about two hours before a tow truck came to get me.
When I got to the dealership, I was informed that my engine was blown. I provided my last 3 oil change receipts to prove that I have been taking care of the vehicle. I am still waiting to find out if they are going to fix it or if I am going to have to pay for it. While I was waiting for information from the service department, I googled the engine problems, and it appears that it has been an ongoing issue since about 2011.
Now, I am out of work and in danger of losing my job while waiting to find out if they are going to fix it. They said that IF they approve the repairs, they will NOT be providing a vehicle, but will REIMBURSE me $30/day for a rental. I cannot rent any vehicle in this area for $30.00/day, even with my USAA discount. I also can't afford to pay $500.00/week for a rental while they fix (if they fix) the vehicle that i bought and paid for.
Day Four, a decision still hasn't been made. Hyundai sent the dealership some requested information on Friday night, but they didn't inform me of the needs until Monday, even though I was there on Saturday, talked to three people while i was getting stuff out of my car. They wanted me to go to the dealership on Monday to sign papers to submit to Hyundai. They have my only transportation and an Uber costs about $50.00. The service manager told me that I needed to rent a vehicle and that I need to call Hyundai. Southern States Hyundai Service center will not do ANYTHING to help me.
The service manager also said that if authorized, it would take WEEKS to fix and that they have a bunch of short block engines that have been waiting for MONTHS for parts.
So, 4 year old car engine blows because it is faulty, neither Hyundai nor the dealership will provide a vehicle while I wait, and it will take at least WEEKS to fix, assuming Hyundai agrees to fix it.
