I purchased this car under duress after my former car died suddenly during the pandemic when used car prices had gone through the roof. I didn't have much money and needed a car fast. I could see that the brake calipers were rusty but the well maintained car (I had all the records) only been driven 103,000 miles, the brakes had less than 15,000 miles on them and two mechanics gave the car a thumbs up. I crossed my fingers, paid cash and said a little prayer. Wrong choice.
A few months later the front brakes failed. Brakes screaming, I skidded to a stop at a busy intersection and had the car towed. Mechanic replaced the front brake pads and ruined rotors. Several months later, the rusted rear brakes calipers seized. This time the calipers had to be replaced in addition to pads and rotors. When the rear brakes failed I had driven the car less than 6,000 miles. I've spent $1,750 and still haven't replace the rusty front calipers. I have driven and maintained a lot of cars over the past 40 years but never owned such a rust bucket. I will be selling this one at the first opportunity.
