I was turning into the driveway of a shopping center when I was rear-ended by another car. The force of the collision caused both active headrests to launch. The force of the active headrest hitting the back of my head caused a concussion and for two days a loss of all memories going back approximately 4 years. I was hospitalized and stayed one night. Most of my memories have returned but I have absolutely no memory of the day of the accident pre, during, or post accident. I am home now but cannot drive for at least two weeks and I am not allowed to travel on business because of caution about the accident. These headrests are dangerous. Any marginal protection they might provide is not worth the suffering of a concussion and the loss of memory. It could have been worse. What if I had not been able to recover my memory or worse yet, not able to create new memories. For the first day I was in the hospital, I could not remember a single thing I was told no matter how many times I was told. I am being told by Hyundai that they cannot replace the active headrests with normal headrests. That is very frightening. I don't want those things in my car. I learned through experience how dangerous they are.
