This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Hyundai dealer.
The car has been in the local Kendall Hyundai shop since November 2, 2018. They need Hyundai technical group authorization to fix it. Hyundai technical group is requesting test after test after test before authorizing the car to be fixed and as of today they continue requesting tests. I complained to Hyundai and established a case # 12341664. To no avail. The car is still on the shop and Hyundai would not authorize a loaner until all tests are conducted. But when the tests are done technical support asks for more tests. Three weeks have gone by and I am without a car. The car is under warranty. Less than 10 years and less than 100,000 miles. I bought it brand new. What options do I have ?

Hyundai has decided to ignore the problem, I have brought the car in two different Hyundai dealerships when the car was still under warranty and every single time I was told that they could not recreate the issue. Which is pretty obvious, after driving the car for 20 - 30 minutes the shifting is extremely rough.
So rough that the tires spin at times. It seems to be a pretty common issue on the Genesis 2012, a simple Google search will reveal hundreds of Genesis owners in the same situation.

I have similar problem in 2012 Genesis 71.5K mi. Appears to be an issue of accelerating and deceleration and transmission timing. It gets stuck, RPM's rev up then drop, kicked in the butt hard shift. At first I thought it was my foot and accelerating but then it started happening to often. Especially leaving a stop light after a dead stop, it's about to kick me in the back or lunge forward. It's not always but it's not normal, shouldn't be happening. Some research show a reported issue that discussed transmission problems and replacement. It was probably found on this site.
I'm scheduled to take it in Friday morning. I'm sure like other people who went in for transmission issues, they were told no trouble found, unable to reproduce. I've figured how to reproduce it. Jackrabbiting from a standing stop, no roll. Trans seems to have not completed it's downshift and is stuck in a higher gear, It corrects itself by over-revving and the transmission kick.
Update from Jun 16, 2017: Well, took it in this morning, not good news. Transmission slips between 2nd and 3rd which causes the rear end to jerk and engine to briefly revv up. I was smart and bought a extended warranty. I'm without a car while the insurer reviews other ways to delay decision to make the repair. It's not a repair, it's new transmission. Guess I need to start positioning legal services as I'm sure there is going to be discussion. There was no discussion when they took my money. The only discussion I'm wiling to have is 1) when do I pickup a rental car? and 2) when will my car be ready? Will report back when I have more information.
For now, if your Genesis slips and has a hard kick when changing gears, call you repair shop. It's cheaper to replace than to repair.
Update from Jul 9, 2017: I'm pleased to update this complaint. It was determined the transmission was slipping in the lower gears. It would cause the engine to race briefly and a kick in the rear end. It was also the cause of unresponsive acceleration. My real lesson came when I purchased the used car I also purchased an extension to the warranty. It has saved my bacon twice. Braking system started failing after three months. Two grand expense. Transmission replaced over $4K. Dealer ship covered the cost of the transmission. Vast improvement in performance.

When accelerating, transmission will violently shift from 2-3 and occasionally shift hard from 4-5 as well, typically after some driving. Once in a while it will actually slip while trying to upshift gears in the gear ranges described. This is scary as the car could seize acceleration at any time and could cause a traffic problem or accident that could potentially be fatal.
From other reports this seems to be a commonality in these transmissions and Hyundai needs to step up and take care of this issue by issuing a recall and replacing all of these transmissions or redesign them to function properly. My car should NOT be having issues with the transmission at 32k miles. That is just ridiculous. This car is 7 years old and barely driven, it should be running perfectly.
