Dealer has had the car a week, same issue others on this forum have described from 5 years ago, Hyundai engineer has been consulted, still nothing in a week. Warranty would provide a rental car and new transmission but in a week they still don't know the problem even though they have obviously seen this exact problem on other '13 Genesis sedans. 100,000 mile power train warranty isn't worth jack if they won't own up to the problem. Probably won't look at another Genesis or Hyundai in the future.

Same problem as 2 other people have posted, car struggles to find correct gear on upshift and downshift. Sometimes will cause engine to rev, then finally after coming off of the accelerator, it will finally find a gear. Also, I can come to a stop, I will feel what feels like someone slammed into the back bumper, look in my rear view mirror. Nothing there, Chalked up to transmission not finding the right gear. Getting very annoying.

Amazing. My complaint about my 2013 Genesis sedan is exactly the same as Steve in California posted 2 weeks ago. The trans seems to spin between 2d and 3d gear, and then jolts into gear suddenly. Once out of the 2d-3d gear trick bag, the car seems to run fine.
This is annoying, but also raises concerns about overall safety and function of the car.

transmission slipping and struggling to find a gear
The car frequently has situations in which it struggles to find 3rd gear from 2nd gear when accelerating. Often the engine will rev way up to 4-5k RPM before violently jerking into 3rd gear. Sometimes it is a quiet jerk into gear, and sometimes is sounds and feels like something is getting slammed into place somewhere in the transmission.
I don't believe it is related to driving style as the problem has occurred for both my wife and I. It is definitely a problem and is getting more and more annoying to deal with. Not to mention, it feels very unsafe.

The transmission revs up RPM then transmission shifts, it's a hard shift around 40mph. RPM wraps up can go 4500 rpm then shifts around 55-60mph. I can baby feather the throttle so it doesn't hit hard when I let off the gas. I drive ride share so riders don't feel it. Now at 208,000 miles I'm gettin tired of the issues, now starting issue at lower speeds and doing a weird clunky shift around 15-20 mph (it doesn't do it all the time). But will also wrap up rpm around the 15-20mph. Like I have a sticky solenoid or switch because I can do manual shift and it's like they don't want to open and shift. Did fluid swap worked for a couple days then went back to same problems.
