Tried to avoid a texting driver and bumped the curb on the passenger side at 20ish miles per hour. All three side airbags went off causing $11,200 in damage. No one was injured because the passenger seat was empty. Why on earth would the airbags go off for a curb bump? Seems very questionable that the airbags are that sensitive to a curb hit like that.
MOST IMPORTANT, DON'T AIRBAGS KNOW IF SOMEONE IS IN THE SEAT OR NOT????
Update from Dec 15, 2015: I too just had the tires upgraded to Michelins within 300 miles of this happening.
