On [XXX], after driving on a rainy day (with a flood warning reported by NWS), I noticed a strong burning smell in the garage the next day, and my car wouldn-??t start. Unable to get it running, I had it towed to a nearby repair shop, where they found burn marks on the starter and starter harness. The repair costs were significant, so I filed a claim with my insurance under my comprehensive coverage. The following day, the insurance adjuster informed me that Hyundai had issued a recall (RECALL 254, 24V 107000) related to my issue and advised me to take the vehicle to Hyundai for repair. I had the car towed to the Hyundai dealer in Cumming. However, after diagnosing the vehicle, Hyundai of Cumming stated that it was not subject to the recall. I believe this incident is clearly part of the recall, as shown in the attached photos from the local repair shop. Since Hyundai of Cumming claimed it wasn-??t covered, my insurance company requested a detailed explanation and additional photos, but Hyundai of Cumming has been unresponsive for over a month. I reached out to Hyundai Motor USA, but they simply provided the same information as Hyundai of Cumming, without any investigation. During this process, I incurred nearly $1,000 for a rental car, which was a significant expense for me. Two months after the incident, Hyundai of Cumming offered me two options: A) Pay out of pocket for repairs, or B) Remove the vehicle from their shop. Since the car wouldn-??t start, I had no choice but to pay for the repairs. I finally got my vehicle back on October 19, 2024, three months after the incident, with total costs around $6,000, including the rental. I still don-??t understand why Hyundai of Cumming believes this burned starter solenoid incident is not part of the recall. As a typical customer, I feel powerless against this large corporation, despite knowing this issue should be covered. If you need anything else from me, please feel free to reach out anytime. About 5-6 months ago, when turning left or right, the steering wheel started essentially locking in that position, and I have to yank it back to center. It will not self-center. The dealer was not able to fix it, and it's a very dangerous car to drive now. I will not let any other members of my family drive it. Also, I've had a severe drivetrain vibration for about a year, and over $7,000 was spent on a new driveshaft and transfer case. It is now worse than it was and the dealer doesn't know what to do. Even with only 34,000 miles on the car, it is out of warranty, and Hyundai doesn't seem to care. I have installed brand new tires hoping that it might help both situations, but it didn't. I'm just at my wit's end now. I guess I will just have to park the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was in a turn lane with the car running in park. When the light turned green, the car would not shift to drive. I was blocking traffic. I turned on my hazard lights. I then turned the engine off/on. The car then shifted to drive with a harsh jerk!. I was able to get to my destination. When leaving, my car again would not shift into drive and I noticed that the "check engine light came on. I tried stopping and starting a few times. The car would not shift to drive. It would only go in park, neutral and reverse. I had to have the car towed to my house. I will have the dealership check it on Monday.

Propeller shaft assembly / drive shaft assembly. Result: Dealer replaced under factory warranty in 2018 and noise no longer exists. Previously, between 15 mph and 20 mph at cruise speed and no acceleration, a loud buffeting/recoiling/cuffing noise is audible in the cabin. Sounds as though it originates under the floor boards. Heard this from the moment I purchased the vehicle new with 15 miles on the odometer until I brought it in to the dealer two years later, which, as written above, they diagnosed the source to the propeller shaft / drive shaft assembly.

If I do not fill the auto with a premium blend gasoline the car will inconsistently over rev and jerk into gear if I accelerate somewhat suddenly. This response is quite odd and could cause an accident since the car kicks into gear rather hard after accelerating and then letting off the gas. The sensation is the same as experiencing a light but loud rear end collision from behind. The car is luxurious and big therefore, you wouldn't expect this type jolting from the drive train.

Changed lanes at 30 to 40 mph in a residential area, removed foot from gas pedal, heard engine revving high then within one to two seconds I felt and heard a hard bang and heavy push. Thought someone hit me, but no one did. Car startled me and my wife. It felt like the engine disconnected from the transmission, then reengaged, which gave the sudden outcome. This has been three weeks and no further incident. I could only imagine if this happened on a high way or at a critical point of driving. I think it can be a safety concern.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Genesis. While driving, the vehicle lost power. The contact was able to maneuver the vehicle off the road onto the shoulder. The vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed on an incline. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer (chapman Hyundai scottsdale, 6601 E mcdowell rd #3, scottsdale, AZ 85257, 480-949-7600), but the failure could not be duplicated. The dealer informed the contact to bring the vehicle back if the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was provided case number: 10243115. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000. Updated 07/18/17*** updated 08/30/17 updated 10/03/2017
