About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Stability control warning light would come on, car wouldn't shift out of 2nd. Made 3 or 4 trips to the dealer for that to get fixed. Next, with foot on brake, car in park and fob in car, the car would not start. When you hit the start button, it would just go to accessory mode. Two trips to dealer for that one. Waiting on a tow now for 2nd time in two months with the latest issue - while driving, car just dies and won't restart. The first time, was told it was a 'loose connection to fuel pump.' Very scary! thank god I wasn't on the freeway either time this happened!

With electronic stability control engaged, my new Hyundai Genesis coupe locked the brakes while I was turning into a parking lot. This happened one other time while turning into my driveway. On numerous other occasions the ABS has been engaged when making a turn into a slightly raised driveway, but not to the extent that the brakes actually lock; I am able to drive through the braking action. The Hyundai field service rep drove my car and was unable to get the brakes to lock, however, on at least four occasions he got the ABS to engage while entering a driveway, accompanied by loud grinding noises. He stated that this was "normal operation due to driveway slope angle combined with wheel base and suspension characteristics." He went on to say that he could get every Genesis coupe on the lot to do the same thing. Therefore, they felt no repairs were warranted even though I had told them that the brakes had actually locked up, placing me in a dangerous situation. A recent autoblog.com article noted the severe deficiencies in the Hyundai Genesis coupe electronic stability control that mirror my own experience.

I own a 2010 Hyundai Genesis coupe. It has multiple problems. The transmission was replaced at 4200 miles and still experiences problems (lurching when put in gear). The paint has had to be refinished, the bluetooth radio function is intermittently broken, traction control does not work on occasion (dash illuminator light indication). I have repeatedly filed complaints with Hyundai corporate regarding the traction control issue. After filing the initial complaint and following up 4 times over the course of a month, I have yet to hear back from them. The traction control turns off, and cannot be reactivated (particularly problematic when we've had so much snow). The bluetooth radio issue stems from the radio playing while the phone is connected. I cannot hear the caller, but they can hear me and the radio. The radio should be off when the phone is engaged. Most of the time, I just can't hear the caller but they can hear me.
