My IX35, 2011 manual bought brand new@ Hyundai, Kempton Park June 2011:
The rearview parking camera started not working properly at times since 2012 being unclear and at times like water drops and/or black vertical stripes, but then cleared itself after a day or 2 and will be fine for month/s until the next time. However, I mentioned the problem to the particular service department at every annual service. On collecting my vehicle, I was assured that it works perfectly. After a while the problem will re occur and clear.
Since about a month ago it started to pack up again, this time it had black vertical stripes and then it was completely dead and did not come on again. I took it to the Hyundai service department in Knysna straight away, they thoroughly check it and said it was the mirror which was faulty and I must replace the mirror @ a cost of R15,000-00. I am a pensioner there is no way that I could even dream to pay that amount for a new mirror to be fitted (and so should nobody) and then I am not even convinced that they made the correct evaluation. I then did a bit of research and learned through the media i.e. Consumer board, You-tube, Face Book, Hello Peter etc. that this particular is a common problem for Hyundai vehicles.
Now being such a common problem should Hyundai not be fixing it at their cost, why should the customer carry such costs. I would very much appreciate your assistance in my above problem and your advice on the best way forward.
