This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Hyundai dealer.
Recently began transitioning part of my work fleet to the 2020 Hyundai Kona. Of the 23 units received so far this year, 3- "so far"........are burning oil and coolant at a significant rate. After going through the ridiculous Hyundai continuous oil monitoring process for the oil levels and trips back and forth to the Hyundai dealership I was informed that the engines require replacement. These vehicles are almost new, definitely a factory defect that has yet to be published.

I heard a metal grinding noise was block away from the dealership and dropped it off. I was told on day 2 that the car passed the recall test on the piston rings but it has become worse and not safe to drive. Dealership has no loaners and waiting on Corporate to say yes this is a warranty issue. Until then there's no coverage for a rental car.
Update from Jun 22, 2022: Update: on day 6 I got a loaner becuz I went in every day. Corporate asked for a Borescope and week 3 dealership located the tool to perform test and corporate approved a short block. On day 30 I got a call the car was ready to be picked up. I was lucky compared to others.
