Palisade Limited 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,500 miles

After the first oil change at 2500 miles the Palisade began to consume oil at a rate of 1 quart every about 600 miles. I don't know if it was consuming before the first change. The dealer never noted that it was low on oil. At about 5200 miles the Palisade stalled getting off the expressway. Managed to get it home, about 2 miles. It sounded like a diesel going up a hill. Checked the oil and it was not registering on the dip stick. That means it was down at least a quart. After two trips to the auto store it took 4.5 quarts. I was shocked. There were no visible leaks or signs of excessive oil consumption. No waring lights. Then stated checkin the oil every 500 miles. I was now consuming over a quart every 500 miles.

Search the internet and found others having the same issue. Reading the steps it took several trips to the dealer to perform an oil consumption test over 3000 miles to determine the rate of loss. This would just lead to the what I already know, it needs a new engine after 5500 miles. I was not going to go thru this hassle with the chance the new engine could have the same problem. Traded it in and took the resale hit.

Palisade Limited 3.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

I purchased the car 7-31-2021 with 19,490 miles on it as a “Certified Used Car” from Werner Hyundai in Tallahassee because I could not find what I was looking for at local Five Star Hyundai Albany location.

The car has been serviced by Werner twice. Last time was 12-1-2021. At that time, I had already reported to the dealership that the car had excessive oil consumption. When I picked up the car after being serviced it was already running when I got it, so I drove on back home. Upon arrival at home, I checked the oil level and it was high above the upper hash mark on the dipstick. I reported it to them in a text or email along with a picture, but got no response. The car is due for the next oil change 12-1-2022 or 34,480 miles per the sticker they placed on the windshield.

Currently, the car has 31,372 miles on it with an oil level below the lower hash tag, so, oil is needed.

I called yesterday afternoon in hopes of speaking with the Five Star Service Manager but had to leave a message with the receptionist for a call back.

I finally got a call from them only after I sent a personal FB message tot he Service Mgr, he had a Service Advisor call me and that's okay.

Finally getting it to the dealership, appointment in 3 days.
