The self-leveling suspension system failed. The ride is uncomfortable and on a bumpy road, the vehicle is hard to control because it bounces up and down. I looked at the rear self-leveling shocks and they were made by KIA. Hyundai alleged they are separate manufactures but I believe they are the same.

Rear suspension has failed. Back of car bounces on slightest of rough roads. Ride is very rough for passengers in back two rows. Driver and front passenger also experience bumpy ride that was not there before. When researching, this seems to be a common issue for Palisades with self leveling rear suspension. Car does not seem safe from bouncing due to rear suspension failure.

My rear shocks and or insulator were replaced under a TSB 22-SS-001H at 50000 miles. At 79000 they are needing replaced again. I am told the TSB no longer applies since it is out of warranty. I see others having the same issue. Can Hyundai be held accountable for obviously replacing a defective part with another one?

In August of 2023, Stivers Hyundai located in Columbia, SC replaced the rear shock absorbers on my 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited due to a rattling and knocking noise in the rear of the vehicle. The noise never completely went away, but was somewhat better. In July of 2024 the noise was back to the same noise as we were hearing in 2023. We took the vehicle to the dealership in August of 2024 complaining of the same noise previously heard. The dealership stated that we needed new shock absorbers (same as which they replaced a year ago) and which only had approx. 20,000 on them. When we explained that they had just replaced them a year ago, they completely dismissed our concern and noted that they needed to be replaced and offered no explanation as to why they would wear out in a years time. At the point we visited the dealership in 2024, the vehicle was no longer under warranty and we were quoted over $3,000 to fix the issue. In looking through other online forums, this appears to be a common issue with this vehicle. My thought is that there is an underlying issues that is causing this to happen that may not be addressed through simply replacing the rear shock absorbers. Maybe there is an issue causing the shock absorbers to wear out so quickly and that issue has not been identified. Nonetheless, shock absorbers should not wear out in 20,000 miles under normal (mostly interstate) diving conditions.

The ride is extremely bumpy, especially for children in the back seats. Hyundai has replaced the shocks/struts twice with less than 20,000 miles on the car. They are apparently using the same part which is why they keep wearing out badly.

Self-leveling shocks are bad just over 70,000, when the vehicle is out of warranty. Contacted Hyundai with no assistance. Did my own research and found that it seems to be a known issue with Hyundai Palisades. [XXX] [XXX] Seems ridiculous that a part so expensive without the option for aftermarket parts would be going bad so easily. My safety has not been jeopardized YET; however, worn or broken shock absorbers can lead to reduced braking efficiency, which could be a serious safety risk in the event of an emergency braking situation. In addition, worn or broken shock absorbers can cause your vehicle to skid on wet roads Repairs are ongoing with an independent service provider. Having noise from the rear suspension while hitting a bump or turning. dealer says its in the shock or the mounting assembly. I am concerned if its in the mounting of the shock, and the shocks are loose it could be a safety issue. Its been months now and it is getting worse. the dealer is not communicating with me on fixing the problem.it was fixed once on. 11/9/2022 invoice [XXX] and on 8/22/2024 invoice [XXX] it started again Larry miller Hyundai Peoria az. The rear shocks on my vehicle were checked and the left rear is requiring replacement at approximately 33K miles. The leakage was gradual and after the ride became noticeably rough, I took it for diagnosis at Safford Brown in Fairfax, VA. A failed left rear shock was confirmed. I am replacing to make the ride bearable, and in researching the issue, learned of a TSB for my model year issued by Hyundai for rear shock problems. I will request that the dealer keep the bad components if needed for further action to be pursued with Hyundai. The service advisor also noted very uneven wear on three tires which I believe to be directly caused by the gradual failure of the shock. An alignment was recommended. I have been advised by the service advisor and technician that the right rear shock is intact and does not require replacement at this time.

Suspension has made a thumping/creaking noise from both side of rear since new. Brought it to two dealers and they could not fix. The problem has been only getting worse over time. I worry the rear shocks are another component is going to fail and the ride quality / road holding ability has also been getting worse. I have entered details for when the problem first started (essentially when new) but it continues to this date.

The rear shocks have failed multiple times on my vehicle. The original shocks failed under 50k miles. I had them replaced on February 14 with OEM shocks at the dealership. The replacement rear driver side shock began leaking last week, approximately 6.5 months after install. It is currently available for inspection upon request. Without properly working shocks, the car is more difficult to control over rough roads, and creates a safety hazard for myself and others. The original shock issue that was corrected in February was reproduced by the dealer and an independent service center. The new problem is self diagnosed, but is very evident when looking at part and surrounding area (fluid leaking from the shock and dirtying the surrounding parts). The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or other parties. There were no symptoms of the problem prior to failure.

The rubber covering on the rear passenger side strut top insulator disintegrated twice. It was replaced in 2022 at 20,000 miles and now again in 2024 at 57,000. It was confirmed by the dealer and acknowledge that this is a known problem. The issue caused a loud knocking sound when I drove and vehicle instability. I was afraid to drive my vehicle until it was fixed. There were no messages, warnings or lamps that indicated what the issue was.

1) Back end of the vehicle sways, bounces at any speed when going over slightest bump. Driving with failing shocks or struts has a direct impact on your ability to control vehicle. Research indicates KNOWN ISSUE with 2020-2021 Hyundai Palisades - TSB22-SS-001H issued for PART of the problem but no recall. Hyundai clearly knows about it but not issuing needed recall because it is a warranty item, hoping customers don't realize it until out of warranty. Mine still in warranty, 48K miles. Rear- self leveling shocks appear to be the issue along with upper insulator piece. See Forum: [XXX] ) Another KNOWN ISSUE with cracking windshields same model. Mine cracked [XXX] while parked under cover - no apparent cause, Hyundai wanted over 1K to replace - had to use insurance to replace it.
