3/4/14-I left work to pick up my son and heard a soft rumble and saw very light smoke. It was clear that I had a flat drivers side tire. After calling AAA and having a professional take the tire off it was clear that the coil/spring had broken and been the cause for the tire failure with a spiked edge that punctured the tire. I will be updating this posting with pictures of the tire and coil/spring and taking those pictures to the dealership I purchased the car from. I have read about multiple failures on this make due to this issue and am surprised that there are no recalls due to the fact that if this happened at a higher speed could be catastrophic. I certainly am questioning Hyundai's quality standards. Aside from my problems with dealing with the issues of getting all of this fixed Hyundai needs to deal with this issue before someone is on the interstate and this ruins multiple lives.

coil spring broken

front coil spring broke

On way home from job 2 tonight I get what i thought was a blow out. Loud bang and them immediately felt like driving on rim or something. Freezing cold out by the way! Pull over, tow truck comes just as friend comes to change tire for me. Get tire off, its like sliced thru. My damn coil spring broke and went right thru the tire. My brand new tires I just bought like 6 weeks ago. So $123 to tow it home. Cars undriveable til fixed. And am VERY annoyed that its NOT a recall yet I see scores of people complaining about the same thing . Filed complaint with NHTSA/ODI where I saw lots of others wit exact same make and model and issue.

Update from Dec 31, 2013: Okay so $123 to tow home. $121 to replace the tire which has LESS than 3k miles on it. $386 to replace coil spring & another alignment & labor. Thankfully MY brake line didnt get sliced as others' did when coil spring broke. Nice job not considering this an issue Hyundai...
