While driving, the passenger side sun visor detached and fell, swinging from the electrical wires. Went on line to check this and found many complaints of the same thing happening. Could be very dangerous and there should be a recall. Hyundai dealer ordered a new visor and can replace it, but it shouldn't happen.

Back in 2011, my driver's side sun visor failed (the bracket broke at the elbow where the plastic is molded around the bracket). In looking at the part, I noted that the quality/gauge of the bracket was not very robust. I was an employee of first prince and then johnson controls, and am very familiar with sun visors and the brackets that support them. Based on my observations, the design is inferior and is not robust enough to last through the lifetime of the vehicle. The reason I'm writing to you now, is that my passenger side visor also failed recently, with damage in the exact same area. I am also noting that the driver's side bracket is starting to weaken, as it will frequently not stay in a locked up position. This was the same symptom exhibited before the first driver side visor failed. In my opinion, there has to be an excessively high failure rate for this part and as the replacement is expensive (appx. $240), I feel there is a risk and perhaps already occurrence of a risk of the bracket failing while driving at high speed, and/or a driver who's visor failed, having vision impaired by the sun and becoming involved in an accident. I believe you should look at the replacement rate for this part across not only this model, but all other's as I note that frequently the design of an elbow bracket crosses over multiple platforms.

The passenger side sun visor suddenly dislodged from its pivot point and fell to the dashboard. I had it repaired at that time. Last week (11/07/2014) the exact same thing happened to the driver's side sun visor. I was travelling at 65 mph on the highway and it collapsed in front of me completely blocking my vision. I nearly drove off the highway since I could not see. It seems to me that this part must be defective but the dealer tells me as far as he knows I'm the only customer who has experienced this problem. I've heard that the same year Hyundai sonata has been recalled for a similar problem, and I don't know why the Santa Fe has not been included.

While driving down the highway, my driver's side sun visor fell from the ceiling and was dangling by the electrical wire which controls the automatic light when the visor is opened. This not only obstructed my view, but also caused a knee-jerk reaction to brake as the visor swung toward my face. Upon inspection, the plastic joint which holds the visor in place had failed. The visor had fallen despite the fact that I was not adjusting it at the time, and there were no significant bumps or hazards in the road which may have jarred it loose.

2 complaints: 1. my fuel injector needed to be replaced twice within a year. I deal with a local autobody and they stated this has been a problem for years. The issue causes your gas gauge to be incorrect and the car eventually stops running. Expensive to fix. 2. the driver side sun visor broke off and hung by wires while I was driving. This, again, seems to be a consistent problem with the 2007 Santa Fe. Why no recalls for any of these things?? plenty of forums discussing the same problems for so many consumers.

I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden the drivers side sun visor was hanging by the mirror wires. Luckily it was held up somewhat with the clip. The plastic on the pivot side is cheap and cracked right off, there is no way to repair it and a replacement is $140. This is a known issue and there is a recall for the 2007 Hyundai sonata sun visors for the same issue.

Numerous visits to the local dealer from 2010 through this visit for clunking and banging of the suspension with concerns for safety. They begrudgingly replaced a tie rod in 2011 on one side, link assembly stabilizer on both sides, lower arm assembly on left - and now that right controller arm is faulty and could cause a crash they refuse to honor the warranty. When there are concerns of safety for over 3 years for the same issue I believe they need to launch a full scale investigation. Hyundai is in the news for other suspension failures. Obviously faulty/poor quality parts are known. Hyundai needs to live up to the 60,000 mile extended warranty I had, and the 10 year 100,000 warranty I still have. The wear ad tear on this vehicle is minimal (driven to work 6 miles roundtrip and easy freeway driving maybe once a month). In addition to the suspension my passenger visor fell off the ceiling and dangles unless duct taped. Way to go Hyundai.

While driving on a highway at approximately 65 mph I flipped down the driver's side sun visor to block the sun. The visor broke leaving it dangling in my line of vision. Startled and stooping to see under the dangling visor I managed to hold it up and out of my way until I could find a store to purchase some duct tape. Taping it was quick temporary fix. High temperatures kept the tape from sticking securely and the visor continued to fall down as I was driving. Forcing my attention away from the street and back to the visor. I am 58 years old, have owned the car for 6 years, and have not abused the visor.

I also am having many issues with my SUV. As others have states the driver side sun visor broke off while driving. I had to cut the wire to get it to stop dangling. I now have no driver side sun visor. I also have a check engine light on due to my fuel sensors. My gas gauge fluctuates. I have to go based off mileage when to get gas. I think it is ridiculous that none of this is covered under a warranty and there has been no recall on anything that has affected many or people.

The visor will hang by the electrical cord and can not be removed unless you unscrew and dismantle the entire housing assembly-which isn't possible to do while driving. You will get stuck holding the visor out of view until you can pull over and either rig it back up temporarily or get lucky enough to have some screwdrivers with you to fix it.

When pulling out of my driveway and traveling up the residential street, the driver side sun visor fell out of the rooftop and hit me in the head. It appears broken and I can not re-insert it without it falling out again. I rarely use the visor, and it fell out without my attempting to lower it. It appears many are having this problem with the 2007 Santa Fe. If Hyundai won't recognize the issue, fine. I'm still working on a solution to prevent the visor from hitting me in the head while I'm driving and then dangling in front of me and blocking my vision. The front left tie rod needed to be replaced a few months ago. I couldn't understand why the dealer did not recognize this problem a year ago when the warranty was still active. The mechanic who eventually replaced the tie rod told me he thinks this issue was long-standing, and perhaps existed when I purchased the vehicle. Dealer cost to repair: $700+. my mechanic repaired for $180 (including front-end alignment. Now my brakes are squealing, and the pads are fine. My mechanic took photos of rust on the rotors. He is amazed at the number of problems I am having with a car @ 16,000 miles. I think I bought a piece of junk without knowing it.

Both driver and passenger sun visors will not stay up. A front impact would inevitably result in an open head/eye [acceleration] injury to the driver and front passenger. Advised the service writer, [xxx], @ napleton Hyundai of the defect, and note on www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=157121 that this is an extremely common and worrisome safety issue that the dealer will not honor as a recall issue despite the T64 and T74 (technical service bulletins) for 2007 sonata. While driving on a two lane road and into the setting sun, the drivers side visor fell loose. It fell directly into the drivers field of vision and had to be held up with one hand as it was dangling by wires. This incident highly startled the driver and totally obstructed vision. Shortly thereafter the passenger side sun visor also fell. The local dealer said they would be happy to fix them both for $400. They were not fixed. This is an extremely dangerous equipment failure that needs to be addressed before a crash.

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that the driver's side sun visor would release downward whenever the contact was driving or when the vehicle was stationary, obstructing the contact's visibility of the roadway. The vehicle was not repaired. In March of 2012, the passenger's side sun visor was replaced under a service warranty due to a faulty plastic support mechanism. The sunvisor on the driver's side broke; on the post where the visor attaches to the roof of the car. Once broken it could not be secured out of harm's way. This caused the visor to hang straight down blocking the driver's view of the road and creating a vision hazard. Secondly, the visor then was free swinging, so that it could strike the driver in an accident or just in normal driving. I have the visor and pictures documenting the break site.
