window blew off

rear quarter panel window just blew off

I was driving down the highway the other night and i started hearing some wind from the back of the car (you know the sound, like a window is down or the door is jarred). At one point, the sound got very loud, i glanced back and the window (a stationary window that's not supposed to move) had blown halfway off the car and was hanging by the stuff that binds it to the car. I decided I should pull over, but in the course of me pulling over the window blew off the rest of the way. As it was very late and I was on the highway with an infant, i decided not to stop to go back for the window. But seriously, how does that even happen that a stationary window just blows off the car? It's in the shop now and I have a crappy rental car. Luckily insurance is covering it (although, that's not saying much with my $250 deductible). I had to take it to a body shop instead of having the local windshield replacement guy come out since the whole outside frame for it was gone. I'm just glad nothing worse happened with my little boy in the car or if another car had been close to me on the highway. Some people have told me to call the dealership, but as it's well out of warranty, i decided it won't do any good. I LOVE my santa fe, but this is just random and potentially dangerous.
