problem #1

Apr 202020

Santa Fe SE 2.4L Inline 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,000 miles

Had this car for about a year since May of 2019. From May to now the problem occurs more at 21,000 miles. About a month up into today, when starting engine from cold start after not driving for a few hours or starting the next morning I would hear a rattle sound. To me it sounds like something loose. Based on other reports numerous Hyundai vehicles including the Santa Fe, I found out it could possible be a loose timing belt tensioner. As of today 04/20/2020, after the problem getting worse as days came by I decided to take to the certified Hyundai dealership that I originally bought the car from. I was told by my service advisor they are going to hold on to the car for a day to see by next morning if they can hear the rattle when they start it up.

I am a bit disappointed that this brand new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV is to be having issues with the engine this early, other than that the car drives perfectly fine. I am thankful that it is under warranty with Hyundai's 10 years/100,000 mile warranty.
