Santa Fe

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

We had just purchased a 2020 Santa Fe with 105,000 miles. At around 107,000 miles the check engine light came on and the engine lost compression on the #3 cylinder. The fix is to completely replace the engine and as of right now it hasn't been fixed. The warranty had just expired and we were hopeful that Hyundai would give some kind of goodwill repair or cover some of the cost of the repair since this seems to be a known issue with this model year. They offered no help and we are still as of 4/21/26 going back and forth with them to get them to cover some or all of the repair. The cause of the loss of compression was a broken valve on the #3 cylinder and we have seen several other Santa Fe owners complaining of the same issue. There was a recall on 2019 and older model years for a very similar issue. My advice to anyone is avoid Hyundai/Kia like the plague.
