Santa Fe Sport Turbo 2.0L

Front brakes had been changed approx. 6 months ago by mechanic. Rear brakes were inspected and were found satisfactory. About 2 weeks ago, my wife drove car and received a scare because vehicle's brake pedal rode all the way down and kept vehicle from stopping. She had to pump brakes to get vehicle to stop. I checked brake fluid on her arrival, and fluid was in operating range. I took vehicle to mechanic, and they replaced rear brakes. Car worked fine until today when the same thing happened both to my wife, and then myself on a test drive.

Update from Jan 8, 2023: Brake failure (ABS). Our 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T is having serious brake issues. On pressing brake pedal, it'll travel all the way down, and only pumping the brake might get vehicle to stop. My wife almost hit a vehicle at a traffic light. We've had both front and rear brakes replaced, and master cylinder has been replaced by a certified mechanic, but no avail. Our mechanic suggested possibility of ABS system. I made an appointment with our local Hyundai Dealer in Odessa, Texas, but said they can only get me in on February 9th, and this vehicle is needed for work. The vehicle is a serious hazard to drive.

Update from Feb 16, 2023: Shop Manager at our local Hyundai Dealership is telling us the master cylinder is leaking brake fluid into the brake booster causing the soft brakes. Our personal mechanic was made aware of what was found and said all this had already been checked. There was no brake fluid in brake booster, when he replaced the master cylinder and made bench bleed. Hyundai Manager says charges will be $2017.56 for repairs. Seem right ?
