After oil change, i noticed oil spots on driveway. Took it back to place that did oil change. They told me I had a crack in my oil pan and that it was caused by some sort of engine defect that causes engine oil pressure fluctuations that eventually cause the pan to crack. I believe NHTSA has opened an investigation into this issue.

am writing you today in frustration with my treatment at both your dealership Hyundai Streetsboro and Hyundai of Bedford. When I first purchased my vehicle I expressed concern regarding the hesitation while accelerating and the emense amount of oil this vehicle burns. When I scheduled all my services I expressed the same concern only to be told that it's normal rate or oil consumption. I am extremely nervous when merging into traffic because I never know when the car may decide to not accelerate. I have tired on numerous occasions to get this issue checked by two separate dealership but both dismissed my concerns. I have emails and expressed concerns when using the dealership online service request forms. In summary the vehicle hesitates when trying to accelerate, especially merging into traffic. The vehicle also burns oil at an unreasonable rate as a result of a faulty engine.

Driving down a 4 lane highway my car refused to accelerate and started shaking vigorously. My vehicles check engine light began to flask on and off. Had to pull off the high way and take the back roads the rest of the way home in fear that it would stop in the middle of the street. As we drove home, every time we would slow down or had to come to a stop the car would continue to shake and rattle with the check engine going and and off the rest of the way home. Took this to the dealership and they stated that I have a burnt exhaust valve on cylinder #2 along with needing a new catalytic converter and told me I should just replace the entire engine. I have 67k miles on a 2017 hyundai Santa Fe.

Upon checking my oil, I realized it was consuming at a high rate. The car dealership said there was no problem with the car. A couple months later I took it to a Hyundai dealership and they said the same thing. Now I am 6 months into owning this vehicle. Same issue. I am putting 4 qt of oil in my vehicle a month. Google said there was recalls on my year for a bad crankshaft that was causing this issue. I called the Hyundai dealership again. They said there is no recall for my vin number. I am having the same problem described. Oil consumption at a high rate. Which is wearing down the bearings in the crankshaft, causing the over consumption. I was told because my SUV wasn't on the recall list, there was nothing they could do until it is put on the list.

My car began leaking oil. Hyundai said the oil pan was cracked. They indicated this is not under 100,000 miles/10 year warranty. The issue occurred shortly after they did an oil change. It seems since oil leaks of this type are a safety issue, and the cracked oil pan is a common issue, that it may need to be investigated.

My 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport's engine oil light comes on within just a month or two of an oil change. Hyundai service shop told me that my car was possibly burning oil. I learned that this is a common issue with some Hyundai's and Kia's when the vehicles reach around 90,000 miles. Mine began burning oil at around 88,000 miles. I went through what they call the Oil Consumption Test for three months. That resulted in them replacing my engine under warranty, thank goodness. I didn't feel safe for three months knowing that my car was burning oil. It seems this is a common issue that may warrant an investigation and/or possible recall.
