Santa Fe Sport 6 Speed Automatic AWD 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150 miles

Purchased a new Santa Fe because I drove a Tuscon for 12 yrs/170,000 miles and loved that SUV. 1st time repeat customer for the same auto company and was sure this would be an excellent auto too. I had the experiences of changing levels of pavement (down a curb-like decline while driving about 15mph) when the SUV stopped, seemed to re-level itself before it would let me accelerate. I was in traffic and could have easily been back-ended the delay was that long. It happened several more times regardless if in ECO, STD or SPORT drive. I have tried to alter my driving habits, however in an emergency situation it is not always possible. This issue needs to be resolved with software, or a change in the drive train/transmission settings. Very dangerous that this happens with this large SUV.

Santa Fe Sport 4 With Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,500 miles

I had the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe sport turbo. Loved it. This after owning BMW's for long time. Thought I would take the chance, but turned out to be a fabulous car.

Bought the 2017 thinking it would be the same, maybe with improvements even.

WRONG!!! This Santa Fe is the worst car I have ever owned. NO POWER. CONSTANTLY slips gears, and often leaves me in the middle of the freeway changing lanes --with NO POWER AT ALL. Dead stop. Very dangerous!

Hyundai dealership doesn't know what the problem is, but told me this week that there is a recall T2M and T1Y that might help, although they couldn't tell me what it was.

Do you know if there are any recalls on this car?

I would have sold this car immediately but it took me almost 6 months to get it registered and accepted with our (blank) government for Sentri crossing - Tijuana. And I work in TJ 3 days a week! Can't go through this again.

Is anyone else experiencing this gear problem? Suggestions?
