Q1. The car is shaking and making rumbling noises upon driving and a check engine light is turned on. It seem like the car will abruptly stop and may result in a crash on a highway. Inspection by multiple mechanics indicate that the engine is misfiring and there seems to be an engine oil leakage issue, imbalance of engine or some part of it. The engine configuration is the same as with the engine recalls (under recall number-17V226000) made on 2013 and 2014 models of Hyundai Santa Fe sport which is GDI, 2.4 Liter and was also manufactured in the USA. Yes, the car is available to inspect on request. Q2. The car was shaking and rumbling while driving even at 40mph. We had to pull up to the side because it felt risky and then had to drive slowly to reach home. It was scary and felt life-threatening with a risk of crashing due to abrupt halting of the car. Q3. Yes inspected by the manufacturer- Hyundai. Q4. The check engine light has been coming on and off for over 10 months period. The car has been inspected and checked by multiple mechanics including 2 times visit to the Hyundai service center. They first appeared in Oct 2023 and is an ongoing issue every other month costing me ~$1000. I have been filling up with 4 quarter of engine oil after driving ~200 miles since it was suspected to be an engine oil leakage issue. However, nothing has been resolved and this issue fits the description and problems seen the Hyundai 2013 and 2014 Santa Fe sports- which have been recalled (under recall number-17V226000).

The oil light has appeared to light up in the car while I am driving it. The first time was January 2023. I pulled over and checked my oil and had literally no oil in my car. I immediately went to Auto Zone (or Advance/O'Reilly's-I'll check my receipts) and poured 5 quarts of oil in the car and called Hyundai (this was within the timeframe of oil changes). They had me bring my car in and stated they needed to change oil and do an oil consumption test, so I had to drive 1,000 miles, bring my car back in and repeat. In the end, they said nothing was wrong with my car. In early August, this year, the same thing happened and I am having to go through this again.

I got my oil changed 98,161 March 1 2024 at mechanic shop Mechanic shop checked oil March 29 2024 at 98,867 a total of 706 miles driven since last oil change. They added 2.5 quarts of oil. So i did my own research online found out the Hyundai 2018 Santa Fe Sport Turbo 2.5 Theta engines has excessive oil consumption problems that will cause Engine to seize/lock up, catch on fire, and other mechanical problems. I have an extended warranty TXXI and TXXC. Oil consumption leaks into the pistons and rod bearings and will cause a knocking in the engine. The oil is already in spark plugs and pcv valve which i replaced. But it will continue to keep happen over and over. I don't want my engine to catch on fire with me in it or at all that's why i am proactive in getting this solved now its already a problem. I contacted Wilson Hyundai dealership they did an 2 month oil consumption test Oil change i had to drive it for 1000 miles It failed. Then they did combuster chamber cleaning i had to drive it for another 1000 miles it failed again. So they submitted claim to corporate that i needed an engine. Corporate declined saying i was over my miles they had the wrong mileage it was a way just to deny me but dealership had correct miles so they could not follow through with that lie. So Corporate made Dealership send another claim in this time corporate denied it saying i was over my warranty. No i was not i started this at 98, 867 miles When 2.5quarts had to be added. I also had to wait a week to get into Wilson dealership because they were backed up in appointments i was at 100,212 miles and so where other Hyundia dealerships others were 1-2 months out in appointments. I had to be in a rental car for 2 months had to pay for it and still pay car note paid for oil testing which i was told i would be reimbursed for repairs and car rentals but they did not honor it nor did they pay goodwill pay for all of my inconvenience 2 month long testing and it failed and they still denied/ lied

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the significant oil consumption issue with my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. My vehicle was part of a class action lawsuit settlement that provided extended warranties and reimbursement for repairs related to oil consumption defects. I first reported the oil consumption issue in 2022, while my vehicle was still within the warranty period. Despite my multiple attempts over the past two years to have an oil consumption test conducted, Hyundai dealerships only agreed to perform the test in January 2024. The test confirmed that my vehicle has an oil consumption issue. However, Hyundai has refused to cover the necessary repairs, claiming that my vehicle is now past 100,000 miles and out of warranty. This refusal is unfair, as the issue was acknowledged within the warranty period, and the delays in testing were beyond my control. I must consistently add oil to my vehicle several times a month and get oil changes before the recommended timeframe to ensure the vehicle runs smoothly without damage.

There has been an ongoing issue with oil consumption and engine failure with my car. The engine didnt give any indication of running hot on the dashboard. It just shut off while driving. I've been to the dealer a few times with no help. On 8/4/2024 my car cut off in the middle of traffic with my daughter in the car twice. It took 3 hours to cool off in 90 + degrees heat. Oil wasn't in the spark plugs but they keep getting shorted out. Oil burns and the engine stalls. I have to replace it which I did but my car shut down. We could've been in a bad accident because it wouldn't drive off immediately. We were stranded on a 2 way country road. This is all horrible because again, we could've been involved in a bad accident on the road we were on. After 5 1/2 hours it finally started and 2 people had to trail me home.

Every time I get an oil change my oil is low. Have started checking my oil after the oil change, a week or so later and oil is low. I will check it the following day after the oil change and the oil level is fine but then the oil level drops as weeks go by. There are no warning lights that come on, especially the one time I was very low. I-??ve been told by the mechanics that this is a common problem with Hyundai. Most recently I had an oil change done 7/15/24. I drove 600 miles so far and the oil is at least half a quart low

This car is burning excessive amounts of oil. I care for it diligently with regular oil changes and scheduled maintenance. Earlier this summer, Capital Tire and Service confirmed that the engine light was on due to a knock sensor likely caused by low oil. At their advisement I ran a consumption test; 800 miles later the engine was nearly empty of with another engine light signal. This light went off after adding 5 quarts of oil. I am routinely adding extra oil, hoping the engine does not seize, and waiting to see if Hyundai will issue a recall. This vehicle is not safe to drive.

I was told by my mechanic that there was a service memo put out by Hyundai about the possibility of the engine in my vehicle consuming too much oil and they offered a fix. I did everything required. Oil change, oil consumption test etc. My engine is burning 3.3 quarts every 600 miles or so. Hyundai DENIED my claim to have them replace the engine even though it was an issue that they previously acknowledged and other people have had their engine fixed or replaced by Hyundai.

Oil consumption issue. At anytime the engine could fail and shut off making for unsafe driving and causing an accident. In progress, have done one consumption problem test and about to do a second. Oil light went on after an oil change and had that inspected at local garage. After that oil change within a week or so took back to garage and oil was down again after 735 miles and took it to the Hyundai dealer in Meriden CT after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment. They won't commit to saying it is a problem until they do more costly tests but it is evident it is the same problem my daughter had with jeep until they finally did a recall. Problem began in Feb but I went away and continued with issue when I got back at beginning of May. Have seen the same complaints on the internet and lawsuits etc.

Have 80,000 miles on vehicle, driving down highway, and total engine failure occurred. Luckily there was a highway shoulder I was able to roll onto for safety. No oil light had come on, but mechanic said there was an internal oil leak, and that I had no oil, and engine was blown. There are many known engine failures due to excessive oil consumption in the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport models. They need to offer a recall on this model and replace the engines of thismodel.

For the last year or so, we have had a major issue with oil consumption, there are no oil spots on our driveway yet the oil just disappears and we are constantly having to add more. I have spoken with Hollar Hyundai about the issue and they acknowledged there is a problem and that the SUV now has a lifetime warranty for the engine. We have all records of oil changes and my wife is very religious about getting it done as scheduled. We asked about what we are to do and all they said was drive the vehicle until the engine siezes up and then Hyundai will replace the engine. I asked about doing the test on the engine nd they will not do a test on the engine for us. We are at our whits end with this engine using so much oil and we need to have soeone from Hyundai Motor America contact us and help us resolve this issue. My wife loves our SUV and it is the first one she has ever paid cash for due to inheriting some money and now she is faced with the possibility of having to trade it in on another vehicle and thus coming out of pocket or even aking car payments again. PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE!!!!!

While driving my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport in freeway traffic, I felt the vehicle begin to heavily vibrate and the engine was jerking severely. The speed began to slowly descend. I was unable to control this. I was in a one-lane overpass, with no safe place, room, or lane to pull over. I felt hopeless and fearful for my life. I was literally drifting, praying the vehicle would be able to handle the descent upward. As the speed declined, the vibrations became more pronounced. No dash lights were illuminated. Other drivers behind me were approaching rapidly at the speed limit and slamming on their brakes and hazard lights in an attempt to notify drivers further back. I managed to maneuver over to approximately 24 inches of a faux shoulder on the right of [XXX]. Cars hurled past mine within inches of my vehicle. I knew I needed to get out of the car and crawled over to the passenger side. Again, I was trapped. Several HPD units were dispatched to literally shut down the freeway to enable a tow truck driver to safely hook up my SUV. I had it towed to my mechanic and he did a diagnostic indicating a compression issue. He ordered new spark plus and 4 new coils. Upon further investigation he discovered that Cylinder 4 was not holding compression and he informed me that the engine had failed. I then had it towed to the local Hyundai dealer. At check in, I was informed that there would be a $700 diagnostic/tear apart fee to discover what repairs were needed. I informed them exactly what was needed and I expected a new engine. The Hyundai mechanic dismantled the engine and took pictures, ran a few tests. He submitted the results to Hyundai for approval. The engineer at Hyundai denied a new engine claiming "the head coil is not part of the recall". I was told for $2500, Hyundai would "refab" my damaged head to control the leaks. If that repair didn't address the issue, I was sure to get a new engine. A financial and physical risk. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6

I just got Hyundai SUV last December and already cause problem with engine and abs, after I found out that it is recalled a while ago. First ABS, I was going to fix that but all attention to me is engine light then found out it is High pressure fuel pump then burning oil that I smelled something isn't right. I feel it's not safe to drive and I spoke to mechanic, He told me take it back to dealership that they gave me a lemon Hyundai.. I talked to the dealership mechanic shop and never tell me anything how much for high pressure fuel pump? SO I already saw my SUV problem and I decided to check website for Hyundai recalled, that what I had right now.. It's only 6 years old and only 90,000 mileages on that SUV. That smell is very odd and it will cause engine fire..

Hydndai will not fix my engine until it catches on fire and or seize- There was a lawsuit and as per the settlement - the warranty is extended for the engine but the claim form and service agent said in order for the engine to be approved for replacement I would have to wait for it to seize or catch on fire. As a mother who drives with her children I find this unsafe for them or to others as this can cause an accident and or it can be fatal. They still have these recalled vehicles in there lots and our scamming people!!

- I experienced an engine failure while driving. - I was in traffic the auto lost power and I had to immediately pull over. The immediate loss of power caused traffic to break. Fortunately, there was no incident but it could've been dangerous in a more congested area. - I had the vehicle towed to a dealership. - The dealership has looked at it. They submitted a report to the manufacturer over a month ago. - I saw the engine light flash and heard clattering coming from the engine compartment.
