Santa Fe Sport 2.0L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission

I noticed the problem with the oil level going down. No oil dripping in my garage. It was August 2022.

The dealer said I needed to start an oil consumption test. It was begun in November 2022 and then they told me to bring it in at 1000 miles, which I did. After two oil consumption tests, I was told it was not BAD enough, and that Hyundai would not do anything about it. The dealership told me just to drive the car. I have been diligent about having the oil changed every 6000 miles. Last oil change was in May 2024. After less than 2000 miles, the oil level went down again. A quart of oil was added. I have driven it 700 miles and the oil level is down again. I don’t know if this is a dangerous situation, or if I should just keep adding a quart of oil every thousand miles or so. I would appreciate any advice on this problem. Thanks.

Daily driving at moderate speeds between 40 and 55 miles a hours. Consumes approximately 1 quart of oil per every 800 miles. No smoke comes from the exhaust and car has no oil leak issues that can be found or seen. I am familiar there is a class action lawsuit in process for this. This does seem to be a concerning issue.

I bought this Hyundai from a local dealer not knowing that it had a oil consumption problem. It is using about 1qt. of oil every 700 to 800 mile. From what I have be reading on the internet from the Hyundai dealers that this is normal. I don't believe that for a moment. If that were the case the only thing you would have to change every 3000 to 4000 miles on a oil change is the filter. I hope someone can fix this problem. By the way I like this car a lot!

When I bought the car I noticed it would be down a quart of oil every 3000 miles. Now that I have had the car for about a year and a half. I've noticed that it has gotten worse. I'm now at about a quart of oil every 1300 miles and Hyundai tells me to not fill the motor back up with oil so they can see how much oil I'm losing over 5000 miles and they want me to do this 3x so they can figure out where I'm losing oil. But I won’t do this as I will be out of oil before oil change is due and I'm not going to blow my motor just so they can get a ton of money out of me.
