Sonata 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 108,000 miles

I am the second owner of this 2002 Hyundai sonata 2.4l 4 cyl. The milage was approxm 108000 when I purchased it. / approxm 6 mo later the air bag lights just came on, and always stays on, when starting the car. No accidents, no crashes of any kind. So why is this light staying on???? The dealer diagnosed, it, and came up, with a code of Battery to weak, and made me purchase a new battery, and said, that this should fix the problem, but guess what? $150 of battery purchase, and the light came back on again. Now they diagnose it again, and here comes the Bull sh*t, that I need a Module control unit, like $900.00 plus around another $400.00 in labor. I declined it. I asked them to just re set the air bag, but they refused, for liability purposes. I found a local independent shop in town, that specializes in Hyundai's., The technician, took a handheld scanner, and scanned for codes, and came up, with a code B 1406 PPD which stands for (Person Presence Detector ) The Scanner showed the PPD is DEFECTIVE. That should raise your eyebrow, and clearly, that it should fall under a Manufacturer defect. So It's a Faulty Sensor located under the passenger seat cushion, and sells at the dealership, from $103.00 up to 174,00 depending which deal ship you get it from? The labor is 2 hours. be careful some dealerships ship will try to get you for around 4 hours of. So Now I'm convinced that the original dealer was just trying to get me for the complete module brain, that's in the thousand dollar marks, instead, the ppd which, will be so much less, and now Im goanna peruse the manufacturer, to cough up the tab, because it is defective, and should be there responsibility, no matter if its under warranty or not.
