BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN DEALER AND HYUNDAI USA FOR 7 DAYS TO NO AVAIL. MY CAR WAS OVER THE WARRANTY TIME LIMIT BY 45 DAYS, BUT WELL UNDER MILEAGE LIMIT BY 12,000 MI. AFTER 45 YEARS OF OWNING A CAR, IVE NEVER HAD AN ENGINE FAIL...AND THIS ONE FAILED AT ONLY 88K! THAT'S CLEARLY A QUALITY ISSUE! THEY COULD HAVE MADE ME A FRIEND FOREVER BUT INSTEAD THEY HAVE REALLY PISSED ME OFF AND I WILL NEVER, EVER EVEN LOOK AT A HYUNDAI OR KIA AGAIN! NOW THEY ARE FIGHTING A CLASS ACTION SUIT OVER ENGINE FAILURES IN 2011-2015 SONATAS. I HOPE YOU LOSE A FORTUNE, HYUNDAI...YOU SUCK!

Rod bearing self destructed. No specs for this engine out there. Had to use old school methods to get good bearing tolerances. Parts not readily available either. Oil pump/balance shaft assembly too costly for what car is worth as trade-in or private sale so rebuilt it myself (luckily I am a machinist by trade). They really need to upgrade bearing quality in these engines... Will not buy another Hyundai!!!!!
