I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata with approximately 39,000 miles. About a month ago, the driver side visor falls down and will not stay up. This is a safety hazard as it falls while I am driving. This appears to be a common complaint with this model.

The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. While driving at any speed, the passenger's and driver's sun visor would not stay in the closed position. The visors were replaced but they continued to fall into the view of the driver or front passenger. The dealer advised there were no recalls and any repairs would be at the contact's expense. The manufacturer was not contacted. The current mileage is 73,000 and the failure mileage was 40,000. Updated 10/22/10 the consumer stated he was unable to make changes to his complaint. The passenger and driver sun visors will not stay in the upper rite position. Both of the sun visors fall directly in the face so that my passenger or myself is hit in the head. This is a safety hazard because in the case of an accident. The sun visors will damage our heads.

Faulty sunvisor on 2006 Hyundai Sonata gls. It worked fine until March when it started to creep down when on bumpy roads. Now, June 2010, it fails to stay up at all. It is right in the line of vision of 5' 10" male. I have removed 2 screws to remove it from the car until I can find out what to do. Warranty ran out at 60,000 miles. It had 68,000 miles on it when problem began. This is on drivers side. It has not been mistreated in any way. I have kept the visor in trunk.

Drivers side sun visor will not stay in place. The sun visor stays in the down position blocking my line of sight while driving. I had to velcro the sun visor to the headliner to prevent the sun visor from falling down. I disassembled the sun visor and found that the plastic arm inside the sunvisor was broken in half and that this is the reason for the sun visor to fail. I have 63,000 miles and the part is 3000 miles out of warranty. Researching on the internet I have found that this is a major complaint and so I'm reporting my broken sun visor to you.

I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata gls in which I bought in October 2007 with 24K miles. The car was still under warranty when the driver's side sun visor would not return to the upright position. It wouldn't go up or down, but just hang down in my face. Had to try and clip it to the roof until I could get it fixed. The dealership said it was a common problem. Two weeks later, the same thing happened to the passenger side. Two years after having both sun visors replaced, I am facing the same problem on the driver's side again. It is a tremendous safety hazard as my vision is blocked and I am constantly distracted by trying to keep it out of the way. It is also hazardous in the morning and evening when facing the sun, as my eyes have no shield and am blinded. I know this has been a common problem with the Sonata so I urge you to investigate and find a solution with Hyundai.

I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. Three years ago, the driver's side sunvisor stopped staying in place, dropping in front of me and causing a potential obstruction. The dealer replaced this under warranty. Less than a year later, the replaced visor developed the same problem. The dealer will not respond to my request that it be fixed again under warranty. I believe that this is a material defect, and it could be hazardous.

1.) I entered my car and noticed my driver side sun visor was down. I pushed it back to the upright position, but it just fell back down. 2.) it is like the spring or mechanism that holds it in place just stopped working. 3.) I have not yet heard back from the dealer about replacing the visor. When the visor is down I can not see the stop lights and have to keep holding the visor up, so my sight is not impaired.

The drivers side sun visor dropped down while I was driving & it will not stay up and this happened at night. Also the passenger side sun visor will sometimes drop down if I hit a bump in the road. 2006 Hyundai Sonata: The driver's sun visor stopped working - it basically lost its tension and, although still hinged, it flipped down on its own while I was driving down the highway at 70 mph. It not only startled me and caused me to jerk the wheel but it distracted me momentarily and I was just thankful it was not a two-way road where I could have hit an oncoming vehicle. In addition, it hangs straight down directly in my vision, obstructing it so much that I cannot see adequately. I improvised and used velcro to affix it in its original, closed position. However, the velcro sticky backing gave out today and, again, the visor suddenly dropped startling me and obstructing my vision. My car has over 72,000 miles and is out of warranty to repair this. I looked on-line to see if there was a way to fix this defect and discovered countless complaints and concerns for the exact same thing. I certainly don't think I've misused the visor - I don't even use it that much - so it's not an issue of mishandling. With as many complaints as I saw on-line, I think this is a manufacturing defect that warrants attention. Thank you.

2006 Hyundai Sonata bought in 07. Floppy drivers side visor was replaced as it would not stay up. Now both drivers and passengers side are floppy. Obviously a design flaw and should be recalled. This is definitely a safety issue as the visors when flopped down block the drivers vision! there are many other similar complaints easily located on the internet by searching for 'Sonata visor.' Apparently Hyundai has not yet offered to fix this problem, nor recognize it as a significant defect. What will it take someone getting killed before this becomes "important" enough?? this has now occurred twice - first repair was 2007. Now both visors are defective to the point where my teenage daughter (who drives the car) has asked for the visors to be removed (I will probably attempt a temporary fix with velcro).

The driver side visor hangs down and won't stay up. The failure occurs all of the time. It will either hang straight down blocking my view or I turn it towards the window but that makes it more difficult to get in and out without hitting my head. This is a safety hazard. I have not replaced it yet as I think the visor assembly should last longer than 60K miles (no longer under warranty) and don't think it is right I should have to pay for that.

Hyundai sun visors swings down while driving. My passenger visor broke while driving, about six month later the drivers sun visor broke. I contacted other Hyundai owners and they all have the same problem. I believe this could cause a crash. With the visor N the down possession you cant see the traffic light.

The pump for the windshield wiper fluid went out right after the warranty ran out at 60K miles. It was either defective or this is a planned obsolescence. Although this is not a major issue like brakes, when you are on the freeway and get splashed with mud from a passing truck, and you can no longer see through your windshield since the wipers just smear the mud over the glass, the absence of a working fluid pump could be life threatening. My husband had to pull off the road and use water from a bottle of drinking water he had in the car to clear the windshield so he continue driving safely. In this economy many people will not be able to pay the $120 + to replace the pump and will continue to drive with decreased visibility.
