problem #1

Sonata GLS 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 101,538 miles

Was driving to work, doing 70mph. Windows open, stereo blasting and the noise was deafening. Dashboard electric panel was lighting every warning light. Was able to pull off onto expressway shoulder. Opened hood, oil was spraying out everywhere. Cylinder 1 connecting rod snapped and broke a hole through the engine block.

Has a re-manufactured engine block put in that cost me close to $6,000. Dealerships refused to comment on damage or defective engine. Had a little over 100,000 miles on it. Couldn't afford a new car so I had to spend my whole tax return and savings fixing car. Had a rental for 3 weeks and lost days of work due to this issue.

Would never recommend this car brand to anybody after this and the horrible attitude of the various Hyundai dealerships I tried to work with.
