The water has been leaking into the car in the driver's floor some but, more significantly into the area under the driver's seat into the rear floor behind the driver seat. It appears to be coming into the compartment from the air vents for the floor. especially the air vent under the drivers seat for the rear seat area. The dealer has not been able to locate the entry point of the water. It has gotten progressively worse over the three years of ownership. Of course this happens when it rains, this is unfortunate as I specifically purchased the car for road trips.
Only 12,700 miles on the car and I can hardly drive it now, it smells of mold/mildew. I initially thought that this was from a drain for the sunroof. Now I think it is from the vents below the windshield, somehow they may be clogged or something has come undone and now there is an alternate water flow to the floor vents.
I talked to a mechanic who told me that the car would have to be taken apart to find the source of the leak. The dealer said as much and wants to charge me $124.00 to get started on the problem with no sound estimate to fix it. Like just open my wallet? Really? Hurray to Hyundai!!!!! Oh, yeah I also got a "service contract", uh, warranty for a car that has one of the best standard warranties in the business. Go figure. The service department folks would not even accept my suggestion to contact the big tech at Hyundai to see if they had a clue. some service.
