Vehicle is making a loud clicking sound in the steering column and while turning either left or right its a double clicking loud sound. While the vehicle is at a still position when you turn the wheel you can hear a clicking noise both right or left. If you hit a bump you can hear a loud annoying sound like something is loose. It gets louder and louder. You can hear it over the radio. This happens either on streets and the interstate aka highway

After starting the car on the street I pulled the car into the driveway to wash it. After about an hour, I tried to start the car to move it out of the driveway. It would no longer start. Turns out the starter had burned out. Took the car to the shop. They stated that the even after replacing the starter, the starter continues to try to start the car while the car is running. This will cause the starter to burn out. I have had to replace the starter with 69K miles on the car and now have been warned that there is an electrical problem that will burnout the new starter unless I get it fixed.

The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15V568000 (engine); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (southern states Hyundai of raleigh, 2511 wake forest rd, raleigh, nc 27609) and was informed that he would have to pay to have the vehicle inspected for the noise coming from the left side of the motor. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-633-5151 and stated that the VIN was included in the recall and was not sure why the dealer was not repairing the vehicle. The manufacturer also stated that they would contact the dealer, but had not at the time of the complaint. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Took car to dealership for engine recall check in 2016, was told my car was fine only to have the engine seize 12 months later while driving. Engine was replaced by northtowne Hyundai in kc, mo and car was returned after 7 weeks. Within a few days of driving with the new engine I heard a distinct whining at about 2500 RPM and noticed a steady leak due to spots on my driveway. I returned the car to the dealership who said that the leak was from the transmission and that they have no liability since the engine replacement did not cause them to have to actually touch the transmission since the two systems are completely independent of one another. Corporate Hyundai says that the powertrain (I.e. transmission) is not covered under their extended 120,000 mile warranty and the cost of the repair is going to be an out of pocket expense to me.

I was driving my car about 45 miles per hour. All of a sudden my engine just cut out. I began to pump the gas and there was no acceleration and no sound from the engine. It was completely dead. The lights were on and all other functions were working properly. The yellow engine light came on. I had to pull over and was hoping and praying that my brakes were still working. They did. There was no warming. No oil lights or coolant lights came on. It was about 75 degrees and a clear night with no rain. I have taken my engine in 2 other times due to weird sounds and odd issues for the recall. All time it has passed the "pressure test". my car was towed into the dealer. They are admitting there is definite noise in the engine, but it is still passing this random test. I have had all my oil changes and am at the dealer enough that they know who I am. This could have killed me if I was on the freeway here in southern California. My dealer has been amazing. The corporation is giving me the run around. (please let me know if you need my dealer print out to show that it is in for service)

Engine failure while driving in middle of road without any warning. When attempting to restart vehicle smoked and smelled of electrical burning. Hyundai service center originally said this vehicle was not part of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata theta II engine recall, but when advising I found online (specifically at autoservice.hyundaiusa.com) that it indeed was, they agreed to check vehicle and contact Hyundai to have added to the recall. This vehicle exhibits all the problems mentioned in the recall/lawsuit. They occurred suddenly and without notice. We were at risk of crashing or being hit by a vehicle due to manner in which it broke down. Vehicle was at risk of fire, as it smelled of burning and smoked.vehicle was left at service center and am awaiting response.

I never received the notice on my car recall number 123. I have taken my car in for all recalls I have received and I was never told that the engine could fail because of metallic debris wasn't removed from the crankshaft. My car is in the shop because the motor is locked. It just stopped and then would not move. Southern states Hyundai in raleigh is where I have taken my car for all recalls for four years. They knew about this defect in 1915, but have never informed me or done the work required by the recall. My car was made in Alabama and the Hyundai web site confirms that my car should have been covered under this recall. Southern states is saying they have no recall for my car but one small thing that needs to be done. They don't want to fix my car even though it is there fault that the recall work has never been done.

I have had this car for a little over a year and it has been full of recalls, some I have been told of, some I have not. This is a recent event, I got my oil changed at the usual shop and about 1000 miles before I was due (I get it every 3-4,000 miles) I was completely out of oil. I than took it to my local shop and they couldn't find any leaks or issues but warned me there is a recall for my car burning oil, which I was not told by Hyundai. I took it too the dealership where my warranty is through and they did an oil change for me and told me to come back in 1000 miles. I went to the beach, was about 300 miles from my 1000 mile goal and I was again completely out of oil. I put a quart in and took it back to them and I was even out than but they refused to fix it because I had added oil on my own (so my engine wouldn't run with no oil). They are still unsure of what has caused this oil burning or how much oil my car is burning.

Transmission replaced.. starter taking more battery power to start car so starter was replaced then catastrophic engine failure. After replacement of engine- it was found that there is an electrical short that will not allow the alternator to remain charged. When the engine failed we were driving 68mph on the highway all lights, dummy lights and the power to the car started to flash, increase then decrease quickly then again and again.. thumping noise lights continued to flash/on off/etc car lost power engine died. The dealership is now saying that I am responsible for paying for diagnostics to find the underlying cause of electrical short.. I am responsible for any electrical repair that needs to happen. Electrical system was not faulty prior to engine failure. Hyundai should be responsible for finding the issue and correcting the problem.. the car had no alternator charging issues prior to the engine failure. A total of $13,800 has been spent on repairs and the car is still non functional. This is just not right.

When I took my 2011 Sonata in for the motor recall, I was told my motor was ok. On July 11, 2017 my 2011 Sonata limited suddenly stopped running while driving about 55 mph and stranded me in the middle of a busy four lane highway. I had 146 thousand on the odometer when this happened. As it was out of warranty, I had it towed to my regular mechanic. A few days later he informed me the motor completely seized. How can this be as Hyundai assured me my motor was ok and I change the oil every five thousand miles with pure synthetic? I think it is one hell of a coincidence that you had a recall on that motor, you found mine to be ok, and then it suffers a complete and absolute failure. I paid my mechanic $4602.05 to replace the motor with a used motor that has 48 thousand miles on it, as I could not afford a new car. This is my last Hyundai or Kia.

The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt. The contact was unable to recall when the recall notification was received, and was unaware that there was a recall until the failure occurred. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15V568000 (engine). The vehicle was taken to the dealer (lake norman Hyundai, 02520 chartwell center dr, cornelius, nc, 28031) and the recall repair was completed. The contact was advised that the oil level was low and provided an oil change. The vehicle did not produce the diagnostic codes through the inspection that required replacing the engine; however, the recall remedy failed to repair the vehicle. Four days later, the failure recurred three more times. The vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt after one failure. Two other times, the vehicle restarted after a few attempts. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but no diagnostic codes were found. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they could not do anything based on the information that the dealer provided. The vehicle was not registering the failure codes and no additional assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

Txx3 is the campaign but there was also another campaign that was talking about the specifics of what is happening with my vehicle that all relate to this. My car has stalled numerous times including on the highway. I have already had it towed to another shop, and now I need it to go to the dealership. The guy on the phone at the dealership knows the recall and issues, but basically says my car doesn't qualify. It only gets the extension of warranty on the motor. How can a company make a vehicle that could kill someone due to poor assembly and not really be willing to help? they should assume responsibility and fix my car.
